What does a work environment look like at Vouch?

Vouch is a Virtual First Workplace with office locations in San Francisco, Chicago, and New York City. While this role has remote-work flexibility, we have a preference for this team member to be based near one of our physical offices to attend in-person collaboration and team events periodically. In consideration of team members collaborating across various time zones, Vouch has core collaboration hours of (8:30 am-2:30 pm Pacific Time) when most internal meetings are held.

Role Responsibilities:

We are looking for a skilled individual to join our team and lead our Underwriting Enablement initiatives within our Operations Services team. The Underwriting Enablement Specialist will be crucial in establishing and maintaining the processes, systems, and tools our underwriters utilize daily. The main goals are to achieve:

  • Integration of underwriting processes with system upgrades
  • Efficiency in underwriting operations
  • Consistency in underwriting practices

Job Duties:

  • Technology Integration:
    • Collaborate with engineering, product, and design teams to seamlessly integrate underwriting systems with other relevant platforms.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify areas for process improvement within underwriting workflows and implement solutions to increase accuracy and speed.
  • Change Management:
    • Develop training for underwriters to support the transition to new tools and technologies. Offer ongoing assistance to ensure their proficiency and confidence in using these tools effectively.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Facilitate effective communication, problem-solving, and collaboration between underwriting and other departments. Actively engaging with technical teams to develop and implement tooling and system enhancement specifications.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Improve the ease of use and consistency of underwriting guidelines. Conduct audits for compliance and provide coaching for success.

About you:

  • 3+ Years of proven experience in underwriting operations with a focus on technology enablement and process improvement
  • 2+ Years of underwriting experience within Commercial Lines or Specialty Underwriting
  • Familiarity with underwriting systems, automation tools, and emerging technologies in the insurance industry
  • Proficient in simplifying complex issues to boost productivity
  • Possesses keen attention to detail when optimizing systems and procedures
  • Prioritizes problem-solving as the primary approach
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate change management efforts through high adoption rates, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with technical teams to develop tooling and system enhancement specifications
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, that can be tailored to different audiences in the business (from underwriting to operations to product)
  • Ability to analyze underwriting processes and determine priority based on urgency and impact
  • Demonstrated ability to measure the impact of operational adherence and consistency to achieving overall team and organizational goals
  • Comfort to deal well with ambiguity and maintain composure in complex situations
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for early-stage startups and/or high-growth environments

What to expect in the interview process:

  • 30-minute phone call with our recruiting team
  • 30-45 minute Zoom interview with the hiring manager
  • Case study/technical screen
  • Meet the team! 30-45min 1:1 Zoom meetings with 3-4 team members you'd work closely with in the role

Salary Range:

The pay range for this role is: $120,000 to $140,000 per year.

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry and are part of our total compensation package, which also includes benefits and other perks. We also include stock options in all compensation packages and believe all Vouch employees should have the opportunity to become owners in the company. Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skill set, location, and business need. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
