About the Team:

Engineers on the CLI team get to work on the Confluent Cloud CLI used by our customers. The team oversees versioning, updates, admin functionality plugin capabilities and authentication. We have a long feature roadmap to expand its capabilities and unify Confluent's CLI story. A great developer experience is key to Confluent's success and a passionate engineer joining the team will have the opportunity to make a real impact to the customer experience and overall developer happiness.

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years industry experience designing, building and supporting backend systems in production with a solid grasp of good software engineering practices
• Strong programming and algorithmic skills. Proficiency in a major programming language, e.g. Java, Go, C / C++, Python, etc.
• Experience running production services in Public Clouds, with a drive towards quality, accuracy, and operational excellence
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• BS, MS, or PhD in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience

What Gives You an Edge

• Experience building APIs, CLIs and working with open source software
• Experience building and shipping cross-platform desktop applications, including fluency with standard Windows, Mac, and Linux developer toolchains
• Experience profiling and improving Go application performance
• Interest in evangelism (giving talks at tech conferences, writing blog posts evangelizing Kafka)
• Large public clouds: AWS, GCP, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes
• Familiarity with Kafka
