Job Duties

Develop and maintain backend software to optimize messaging platforms.
Improve project quality via code contributions and long-term advocacy for larger-scale changes.
Negotiate with Product
Management to meet the user needs without sacrificing quality or accruing technical debt.
Prevent regressions leveraging testing techniques.
Analyze backend software to proactively identify potential issues and areas for improvement.
Make recommendations to and communicate with stakeholders to collaboratively address engineering problems.
Use strong communication skills (written and verbal) to assist in the decision-making behind choosing new technologies.
Telecommuting permitted from anywhere in the U.S.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, ComputerEngineering, Electronic Engineering, Information Technology, or related field plus 5 years of professional experience with application development to support product and platform systems, including designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining scalable, secure systems in a cloud environment.
In lieu of a Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of experience, the employer will accept a Master's Degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Information Technology, or related field plus 3 years of professional experience with application development to support product and platform systems, including designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining scalable, secure systems in a cloud environment.

Must also have the following:

3 years of professional experience performing backend development (including Java, Python, SQL, NoSQL databases, or Caching and Streaming technologies)
3 years of professional experience collaborating with product management to develop software applications
3 years of experience with backend web and cloud technologies (including
microservices, APIs, AWS, GCP, or Azure)
3 years of professional experience architecting systems to improve stability, performance, and scalability.
