Eventbrite

Senior Frontend Engineer

Eventbrite

Remote job description

THE CHALLENGE
Integrations with third party applications are critical to the success of event creators using the Eventbrite platform. As our platform continues to grow and develop, we are seeking a creative integrations engineer to continue building and managing our partner integrations. Our app marketplace features 60+ third party partner integrations that bring incredible value to our customers.

THE TEAM
You'll be joining an exceptionally talented and experienced engineering team that manages dozens of integrations and partnerships. We're a people-focused Engineering organization: the women and men on our team value working together in small teams to solve big problems, supporting an active culture of mentorship and inclusion, and pushing themselves to learn new things daily. This is a unique opportunity to influence both the future of the business and the industry in a huge way.

THE ROLE
You'll help shape the future of Eventbrite by working closely with our network of partners, including Facebook, Salesforce, Hubspot, Mailchimp, and many more, to design, develop and maintain integration flows with these select partners using an array of different platforms, databases, protocols, and data formats. You will work closely with business development, product owners, technical support, and engineers, both on our team and on our partners' teams to ensure event creators are able to connect their Eventbrite account with our partners, and that the integrations tap into the full power of these partner platforms.

You'll join a safe environment to ask questions and constructively suggest when there is a better way to do something. You will provide positive feedback and code reviews to your teammates. When given the opportunity you'll happily talk to customers.

You should love being on the bleeding edge of bringing new solutions to market that the world has never seen before. You should thrive on going from 0 to 1, from whiteboard to launched product offering, and not waiting to see what the future holds, but instead inventing it as part of this small team. You should not be risk averse or fear failure, but be able to leverage a combination of technical skills, personal conviction, and curiosity to constantly push in what ends up hopefully being the right direction. You should also love to talk to other engineers and understand the business value of successful partnerships.

THE SKILLSET

    • 4+ years of proven work experience successfully planning, designing and implementing API integrations with third party partners.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills as you will communicate technical details with various internal and external stakeholders of different technical capabilities.
    • Advanced understanding of API standards (REST, GraphQL, OAuth).
    • Write well structured, quality code that interacts with various HTTP-based APIs.
    • Understand basics of SQL and relational databases.
    • Proactive doer and communicator.
    • English is a must as most of our partners are US companies.
    • Proficiency in Python (ideally), Django/Flask and MySQL.
    • Comfort with the balancing act of rapidly building prototypes and minimum viable products while simultaneously creating readable, testable and maintainable code.
    • Strong desire to collaborate on building tools to improve the developer experience.
    • Proven ability to respectfully influence architectural and technical decisions.

BONUS POINTS

    • Working knowledge of Golang.
    • Experience with business development teams.
    • Experience with Javascript applications using technologies like React and Redux.
    • Experience with working in a container environment like Docker.
    • Open source community management experience.
