The position

This is an exciting time to join Remote and make a personal difference in the global employment space as a Paralegal, Legal Operations joining our Legal Team.

We are looking for a talented and eager paralegal to focus on operations of the legal department. As Remote is increasing its global footprint, every expansion to a new country brings corporate, labour, and tax law issues. The legal team is responsible for the legal soundness of the business model, incorporation, and contract templates, along with contract negotiation and redlining, data protection and compliance. Next to this, we perform a legal analysis on new products and services, and advise other teams on legal matters.

What this job can offer you

As a Paralegal in the legal department, your will support our the entire legal team with these tasks. As part of your responsibilities focused on legal operations, this role will also involve:

  • Organizing, redirecting, and distributing legal tasks on our project board (ASANA) and legal-help channel (Slack)
    • This includes coordinating complex projects and everyday tasks, ensuring that members of the legal team can focus on their work and no one person is taking on too much
  • Determining root causes for bottlenecks in our internal processes and recommending and implementing solutions
    • This includes tracking, benchmarking, analysing, and reporting on ongoing legal tasks and projects
  • Working with other teams at Remote to create efficient processes so that legal questions can be answered in a timely manner
    • This includes helping teams "self-serve" and answer their own questions through proper documentation and training

Because Remote is growing rapidly, we need to develop the legal department and this will provide you with the opportunity to develop alongside the legal department in the direction of your choosing. We want to empower you to Own (one of our five core values) your projects and tasks as you become a key member of the Legal Team. This will initially be an individual contributor role.

What you bring

  • Legal Operations or similar experience working in a legal environment preferred
  • Law background a plus but not essential
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills and reading comprehension
  • Ability to switch between multiple different projects
  • Ability to learn and master Remote's communication application (Slack), contract management system (Juro/internal platform/CLM), documentation sources (Notion, Google Drive, etc.), and assignment management systems (Kissflow/Zendesk/Zip/Coupa).
  • Comfort with Excel/Sheets and generating simple statistics such as average task times, work distribution percentages, etc.

For U.S. applicants: Across all US locations, the base salary range for this full-time position is $90,400 to $104,000 plus eligibility for equity. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location, and our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay for the successful candidate in this role is dependent upon many factors such as location, transferable or job-related skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, and market demands. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
