Position Summary

Welcome to the Okendo Brand Studio. We're building a brand that shakes up the status quo in our industry and are looking to add a front-end developer to our creative engineering team. Entrepreneurs have been attracted to Okendo because of our creator-centric approach and our ability to integrate seamlessly with high-growth Shopify retailers. Our track record speaks for itself, but we have every ambition to continue building our position in this space, and believe that our work here is only getting started.

As a front-end developer on the brand team, you'll be tasked with an entirely new type of development - CREATIVE Front-End Development. At the crossroads between UX/Ul design and front-end development, you will work within our CMS platform to create adaptable and responsive website pages where motion, interaction and design are perfectly integrated to form a unique experience. Yes, you'll need to be a great "regular" Front-End Developer, but as a Creative Front-End Developer, you will partner with our in-house designers to complete the UX journey from design to implementation.

How you'll create impact:

• Collaboration: You will work with our in-house graphic and motion designers to translate our brand experiences into web experiences.
• In-house web expert: You will need to work within our CMS framework, to create ownable but repeatable brand experiences. The front-end of a CMS is only as interesting as the developer working behind it!
• Agency partner: The development of our website will be the responsibility of development agency, but you will help manage the build and ultimately take over the responsibilities.
• Go beyond a landing page: As a founding member of the creative engineering team, you will be instrumental in the development of our brand. You will work on next level landing pages, microsites and asset management portals. The sky is the limit!
• The best on the internet: Have you ever won a webby award? Neither have we. Let's change that.

What we need from you:

• At least 2 years of working experience as a Front-end developer
• Solid understanding of PHP and Linux server environments
• Strong HTML5, CSS3 and jQuery mark-up skills
• Good knowledge of Sass/Less, Gulp/Grunt, Git/Svn, JavaScript, React, AngularJS, and Closure Library
• Bring flat designs to life with slick, well-thought-out Javascript interactivity
• A strong portfolio of digital projects - primarily for the web
• At least basic familiarity with a web-based content management system - Wordpress, Contentful, etc
• Out-of-the-box thinker - keen to express original ideas and convey them objectively with the wider team
• A collaborative approach - a real team player
• A genuine passion for design and digital - a keen follower of shifting trends in both digital and the wider design landscape
• Bonus points if you have some informal visual/UX design experience to bring to the table
