About us

POP provides a people-centric SaaS platform that helps production teams manage their crew, cast and other collaborators; casting directors get the right people on set and freelancers manage and control their career.

We were recently acquired by Entertainment Partners, a huge vote of confidence in our vision of a smarter, fairer future for entertainment production. We are now able to power ahead with our goal to revolutionise the industry.

As part of this we are seeking people to join the team and help us make those goals the new reality of production.

About the role

We are looking for someone who is already comfortable with agile web development in a commercial setting. Our domain of entertainment production is a rich, complex one and we want to focus on initiating you into the world of runners, grips and 2nd ADs rather than web development.

We are currently working in a mostly remote environment (but are exploring what hybrid models may work better for us) so being able to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively synchronously and asynchronously. Patience and comfort with the often fast-moving and unstructured world of creatives are really important.

• Web development with Python and Javascript
• Postgres
• AWS

How do we work?

Typically we use an informal Lean Agile process where empowered self-organising teams are granted a lot of autonomy to pursue the business objectives they have been set. This means there can be a lot of variability in how exactly teams operate as what works for an experimental discovery project is not the same as delivering work for a big feature film on a deadline.

Hopefully you will prefer the freedom to refine your ways of working instead of following a prescribed process.

We are a small team so we are always interested in techniques and solutions that maximise our impact and which help people join the team and be productive quickly. We have regular forums for discussion and hold retrospectives on projects and incidents to try and make sure we are always seeking to improve. We would like you to be proactive in seeking to fix problems and build on success.
