Here at Wise we're working to create a seamless IT experience by offering all the tools and permissions people need to do the best work they can, and simultaneously avoid being a speed hump. We have a highly mobile, geographically diverse work environment and currently we look after several offices of varying sizes.

The teams that support all this are called User Technology (UT). UT consists of autonomous teams that build and maintain everything needed to support our company mission. These teams include Device Management, Conferences and Events, Network Infrastructure, Service Management and User Access Management organised into various engineering and support functions.

We're looking for an Engineering Lead for the UT Device Management Engineering team. This team is responsible for global deployment, configuration and management of our entire end user fleet of devices, across all operating systems. It will be your responsibility to lead and drive the team forward.

A bit about the job:

  • Lead a handful of Device Management Engineers and monitor their performance
  • Coach and assist your team members on the day-to-day operations
  • Assist to recruit, train and support Engineers and set recruitment forecasts
  • Be an encyclopedia on the way we deploy our devices, what we configure and how we deploy our solutions.
  • Coordinate with Security and other relevant Engineering teams - this includes responding to incidents together with other teams.
  • Ensure standards are maintained and in line with the rest of UT, that things get documented and there is continuous improvement in team skill levels.
  • Seek to improve processes, responding to queries or audits & providing hands on technical expertise as time allows
  • Monitor Wise user feedback and Support team feedback - what to improve, why and how could we improve
  • Identify and escalate important issues to the various sub teams within UT and seek opportunities to collaborate on solutions

A bit about you:

  • Organisation is key. Ability to prioritise tasks and effectively track progress is a must. Wise - and the team - are rapidly scaling and growing
  • You understand the value of balancing customer centric thinking and technical skills and can coach other engineers on both
  • Able to lead and maintain projects
  • Able to look at numbers and plan for forecast and budget needs
  • You enjoy creating an inspiring team environment where ideas are shared, and openness is valued
  • You're comfortable and confident providing input to other teams' priorities

Must have skills:

  • Your role will be a combination of leading a team of engineers and doing hands-on contribution: thus, we need experience in Windows and/or Mac in enterprise environments
  • You'll work closely with your engineers, to make both product, project and planning decisions. That means you should be able to show a high level of autonomy, coordination and how to remove blockers for engineers

Nice to have skills:

  • Linux experience - servers, end users, deployment and configuration.

What you get back:

  • Lots of fun group activities like yoga, running and boardgame nights
  • Relocation and visa expenses covered
  • A paid 6-week sabbatical leave after four years

We're people without borders - without judgment or prejudice, too. We want to work with the best people, no matter their background. So if you're passionate about learning new things and keen to join our mission, you'll fit right in.

Also, where and what you studied isn't important to us. If you've got great experience, the right skills for the role and you're great at articulating your thinking, we'd like to hear from you.
