Reddit is continuing to grow our teams with the best talent. This role is completely remote friendly and will continue to be after the pandemic.

Advertising is Reddit's primary business model and we have an ambitious goal to turn it into a massive business to fund Reddit's mission to bring community and belonging to everyone in the world. Although several large digital ad platforms already exist, advertisers are being increasingly drawn to Reddit because of our passionate communities that drive action. This large number of self-governed communities have highly-engaged users who are in an unduplicated mindset of consuming relevant information. This has created the opportunity for Reddit to build a massive and highly differentiated ads business.

The Business Foundations team builds products that meet the unique needs of Reddit's largest customers, which currently encompasses two major work-streams:

Ads API

Reddit aspires to build a large ecosystem of Ads API partners. We believe that the API can be a significant revenue driver and mechanism for acquiring new advertisers. We launched our alpha with five partners last year, and there's much more work to do in order to bring our API to general availability.

Business Identities

Large businesses and agencies require advanced functionality to structure and manage access to their ad accounts. We've undergone a major rearchitecting of our ads platform over the last year to enable these use cases, and now we're ready to start building features on top of this new architecture, including Single Sign On, User Permissions, Sharing Entities Across Businesses.

What You'll Do

Business Foundations Vision

We're still in the early days for our two major Business Foundations work-streams: Ads API and Business Identities. You will develop a deep understanding of your customers' needs in those two areas. You'll know as much as anyone at Reddit about large customers, agencies, and API partners. You will ensure your team's technical decisions align with customer needs, act as a thought partner to your product managers, and advocate for your customers to senior management.

Team Building

You will take on a high performing team of ICs and an EM. You will identify your team's needs, write job descriptions, source, interview, and help close candidates. You will have the support of our incredible recruiting team to bring diverse and talented engineers into Reddit. You will also determine how best to organize your team in order to achieve business goals and meet customer needs.

Execution

You will own the execution of your team's roadmap and be accountable for consistent, predictable delivery. You will ruthlessly prioritize both planned projects and emergent asks. You will coach EMs and Tech Leads on project management and empower your team to execute autonomously. You will identify risks and proactively communicate them both internally and externally.

Career Development

You will help your engineers and managers identify career goals and create development plans to achieve them. You will constantly seek opportunities to push your team outside their comfort zone and turn followers into leaders.

Quality Control

You will work with your team to develop processes and tooling that constantly improve the quality of our products and systems, ensuring that they meet product requirements, customer needs, and SLAs.

As the owner of our Ads API, you'll also be responsible for developing accountability mechanisms to ensure downstream services meet their SLAs.

Organizational Alignment

You will serve as a thought partner to product and upper management to ensure your team's plans align with company goals. You will become an expert in the digital ads business and our customer needs. You will participate in and challenge prioritization decisions. You will communicate your team's work and set expectations with external stakeholders.
