We seek an experienced and technically skilled Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects. The ideal candidate will leverage their engineering expertise to plan requirements with internal stakeholders and guide projects through the project lifecycle. The candidate will help Chainguard accomplish its mission by leading the team that ensures Chainguard Images remain up-to-date and free of known vulnerabilities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a relevant field; equivalent practical experience considered;
Five years of experience as a people manager of high-performance engineering teams;
Five years of experience in software development, with a solid grasp of best practices in coding, testing, and deployment;
Excellent leadership and team-building skills
Self-starter, capable of operating in ambiguity and cool under pressure
Exceptional communications skills, written and verbal

Responsibilities:

Manage day-to-day operations for teams of engineers at Chainguard. Mentor engineers and resolve technical and personnel issues.
Drive complex problem-solving initiatives, collaborating with team members and stakeholders to define innovative solutions.
Enhance the engineering team's efficiency by scaling automation for a growing software catalog.
Oversee the timely remediation and investigation of CVEs, ensuring Chainguard is always the safe source for open source, always with an eye for automation opportunities and efficiencies
Define the scope of projects and develop, execute, and manage project plans for the supported program(s).
Identify, communicate, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders within one or more teams to drive impact and work toward mutual goals.

Base Salary Range
$200,000-$250,000 USD
