Position Summary:

The Program Manager is responsible for providing management support and guidance to the mEducation Alliance team with its growing portfolio of signature activities based on our vision, mission and strategic goals. This position is responsible for supporting existing and developing new projects under our three core initiatives (i.e., Foundational Literacy and Numeracy, EdTech Academy, and Youth Digital Champions), ensuring that programs meet or exceed targets, are implemented on-time and within budget as well as meet with donor/funder requirements.

Specific areas of focus will include the day-to-day oversight and implementation of active mEducation Alliance projects and programs, developing/maintaining work plans and Gantt charts to organize project activities, assisting in the production and review of proposal packages in response to solicitations, as well as with the development of budgets and cash forecasts. The Program Manager will also work to understand donor compliance rules as well as review and streamline existing procedures to increase the efficiency of project implementation.

Additionally, the Program Manager will contribute to and support the mEducation Alliance's new business growth initiatives by pro-actively working through our portfolio of projects to position our work favorably with current and potential donor customers through intelligence gathering and positioning for the proposal development process.

The Program Manager will report to the Executive Director of the mEducation Alliance, Anthony Bloome.

The position will be based remotely with the identified individual expected to keep US Eastern Coast hours.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Support

  • Provide direct program management support to the project(s) assigned;
  • Support the successful start-up, implementation and close-down of projects;
  • Draft regular activity reports and provide monthly financial oversight as needed;
  • Support the development and submission of the Performance Monitoring and Evaluation Plans as per donor requirements;
  • In collaboration with the team, coordinate regular strategy and program review meetings;
  • Monitor progress against project output and provide feedback and action steps to resolve issues;
  • Coordinate, review and assist in submitting donor reports as required.

New Business Development

  • With guidance from the Alliance's senior management team, governing and advisory boards, the Program Manager will research, track, compare, and evaluate different funding opportunities within mEducation Alliance strategic activity areas of interest.
  • Contribute to the refinement of proposal opportunities and will regularly update and maintain a funding priority tracking matrix.
  • Will provide support to the proposal development team acting in a variety of roles including, but not limited to, development of communications pieces, supporting public facing events, proposal writer, proposal coordinator, and proposal budgeter.
  • Manage and review proposal inputs for sub-partners.

Required Experience/Knowledge:

  • Bachelor's Degree in International Development, International Affairs, Public Policy, Education, Technology or related field plus a minimum of five (5) years of International Development experience or Master's Degree in related field plus a minimum of three (3) years of International Development experience;
  • Demonstrated experience providing program support on US Government funded contract(s) or agreement(s) or other similar donor-funded programs;
  • Understanding of USAID, FCDO, and/or other donor organization rules, regulations, and procedures;
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong collaboration and facilitation skills with demonstrated ability to exercise judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with all levels of employees and external stakeholders;
  • Strong planning, administrative and financial management skills;
  • Willingness and ability to travel to remote international locations if needed.

Language Skills

  • While not essential, potential applicants with language proficiency in Spanish, French or Arabic are also desired.
