Remote job description

At Sonos we want to create the ultimate listening experience for our customers and know that it starts by listening to each other. As part of the Sonos team, you'll collaborate with people of all styles, skill sets, and backgrounds to realize our vision while fostering a community where everyone feels included and empowered to do the best work of their lives.

Building the world's leading sound experience starts with the experience we provide for our people. That's why we've been distributed from the start: initially between offices in Boston & Santa Barbara, and now with additional offices in Seattle, San Francisco & Paris. This role can be done from anywhere in the United States or Canada - any of our offices, or remotely from home. It's about impact, not location.

We are looking for an experienced Product Manager to elevate our product security governance and engineering to drive scale into how we secure our products and services.

Sonos was founded on a belief that high-quality sound delivered seamlessly throughout your home can improve your life. When people bring new Internet of Things products home, they're focused on the delight these products bring to their lives. Our customers rightly have the expectation that we have secured our products and services so they can enjoy having music fill their lives.

Our team drives the security development lifecycle of products from concept to launch in collaboration with Engineering teams. We are responsible for leading the Product organization to remediate security and privacy vulnerabilities in our services, device hardware, on-device software/firmware, web interfaces, apps, and other components of the Sonos technology stack that could allow bad actors to compromise user data or our systems and partners. Our team will also build software security technologies, features, testing frameworks, protocols, and services in support of the mission to secure our products at scale. We also support vulnerability and incident response and provide technical consulting services to a number of teams across the organization.

"What You'll Do"

  • Inspire, grow, and influence technical teams, providing a roadmap and setting direction. Lead effectively through outcomes.
  • Manage security planning (e.g., products, infrastructure, services, and devices), execution, and success of complex, technical projects.
  • Cross-collaborate with Engineering (e.g., Hardware, Architecture, and Software) and Product teams.
  • Drive security engineering projects to eliminate attack vectors, strengthen platforms, and enhance monitoring and intrusion detection systems.
  • Influence the technical direction of our products and platforms by providing technical guidance to ensure that features and services are built with security and privacy.

"What You'll Need"

Basic Qualifications

  • You have demonstrated experience as a cross-functional leader driving the creation of successful security programs and technologies. Your ability to work across teams in a positive and collaborative way is key.
  • Experience analyzing systems and identifying security problems, threat modeling, code auditing, data security, and design and security reviews.
  • Experience designing and implementing security features
  • Knowledge at the technical level of software services, authentication protocols, device security, or network security
  • Experience in recruiting and leading a team of engineers
  • Ability to prioritize and manage across multiple, often-time, sensitive initiatives
  • You understand how to use all types of data as dimensions to inform decisions and the product roadmap.
  • You have excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate both business/user value and complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
