The mission of the Developer Experience team at dbt labs is to increase the velocity of the engineering group, while maintaining or increasing quality.

We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead and support a team of highly engaged and talented engineers to develop tools that will increase the velocity of our engineering department.

As the Engineering Manager for this team, you will support the individuals on the team and help them fulfill the mission. You will identify productivity bottlenecks in engineers workflows and create a roadmap to address those in a way that has the most impact.

In this role, you can expect to:

    • Build, support, and lead a team of 4-8 software engineers focused on developer experience
    • With the help of your team, create a delivery roadmap to increase velocity among our engineering teams
    • Be responsible for increasing the velocity and quality across the engineering organization
    • Work closely with other EMs, PMs, and engineers to understand what your customers (the engineers) need from you.
    • Actively participate in our recruiting process from sourcing to hiring
    • Coach and mentor engineers on the team to help them grow their skills and their careers
    • Hold frequent 1:1s, quarterly and annual reviews with every member of the team
    • Communicate clear and effective performance feedback to engineers to help foster individual and team improvement
    • Foster technical decision making within the team and the organization

You are a good fit if you:

    • ave 2+ years of hands-on technical management experience as an engineering manager
    • Have led a team focused on internal tooling and/or developer experience in the past
    • Love improving other engineers lives
    • Are able to make change happen through influence rather than authority
    • Have a demonstrated track record of successfully partnering with other internal teams
    • Have demonstrated skills as a recruiter and have assembled top talent teams
    • Have a demonstrated track record of growing engineers of all levels to the next level

You'll have an edge if you:

    • Have experience with devspace, Kubernetes, Go, ArgoCD
    • Have experience supporting a fully distributed team of engineers
    • Have strong written communication skills
    • Have experience working in a highly dynamic environment with changing priorities
    • People refer to you as a talent magnet
    • Understand and practice servant leadership

Compensation & Benefits:

    • Salary: $190,000-$230,000
    • Equity Stake
    • Benefits: Unlimited vacation, 401k w/ 3% guaranteed contribution, excellent healthcare, office and cell/internet stipends, and paid parental leave
