Mutiny

Engineering Manager

Mutiny

Remote job description

Company Overview

Marketers have a problem. Today companies spend over $1T to bring customers to the door, but $19 of every $20 they spend does not convert to revenue. Companies have no choice other than to dedicate large engineering and data science teams to manually build more relevant, higher-converting experiences for different customer segments.

Mutiny is a no-code AI conversion platform that helps marketers convert their top-of-funnel demand into revenue, without engineers. Mutiny gives marketers everything they need to drive revenue and prove it?"from data and analytics to AI-powered recommendations and content writing.

The world's fastest-growing companies, including Notion, Snowflake, Qualtrics, and Carta use Mutiny to convert their visitors into customers. We are backed by Sequoia Capital, Insight Partners, Uncork Capital, Cowboy Ventures, and Tiger Global, along with current and former CMOs from world-class companies like Atlassian, Carta, Cond? Nast, Figma, Salesforce, Snowflake, Square, Visa, and Uber.

About the role:

We are looking for a highly technical engineering manager to lead our web team. You'll lead a talented five-person team in developing the core of Mutiny's product: a website editor and a client that runs on our customer's websites to deliver personalization. This is player-coach role: you'll spend 60% of your time working side-by-side with one of our founding engineers to become an expert in our technology and design and implement it's future. You'll spend the other 40% of your time collaborating with our head of engineering to hone your management skills and build a happy and high-performing team.

As the manager of our web team, you'll be at the forefront of frontend development. Our team works on many interesting and challenging technical problems as we interface with 100s of B2B websites. You'll lead an experienced team with 2+ years tenure at Mutiny so your role will be to inspire the team by leading by example and to create an environment where all team members are motivated, performing their best, and consistently growing. Ultimately, our goal is to make working at Mutiny the best experience of your career and of the careers of our team.

What you'll do:

  • Take ownership of critical projects and lead the team to success
  • Build delightful user experiences (using TypeScript, React, Webpack, and Jest) that allow customers to easily edit websites and deliver performant personalization.
  • Coach your team so that they're continuously growing and delivering value to customers beyond project scope
  • Proactively identifying potential improvements to our product architecture, codebase, and developer experience and lead their implementation.
  • Adopt an all-hands-on-deck attitude with a willingness to jump into backend development and infrastructure when necessary.

What you bring:

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience in a web development or frontend position
  • 3+ years in engineering management
  • Fluency in JavaScript and React
  • Understanding of frontend bundling technologies like Webpack
  • Ability to embrace ambiguity and create structure in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • A kind human who wants to build an extraordinary product, culture and brand

What you'll get out of it:

  • You will create a name for yourself by getting to work with and support some of the fastest-growing companies in B2B SaaS.
  • You will get exposure to real business problems every company faces (growth) that you can take with you to start your own company (or to help scale another).
  • You will have fun, plain and simple. There is a reason our first company value is that work should feel like play.
  • You will experience a new way of working. Our team is fully distributed across North America and the EU. But we come together as a company for quarterly offsites (most recently in fun cities like Brooklyn, Seattle, and Austin). This combination of experience-based work is a competitive advantage we continue to invest in.

Our values

These values define how we approach our work every single day:

? Work should feel like play ? Faster always wins ? Stir the pot, regularly ?'? Do the right thing when no one's watching ?'?? All hands on deck ? Live in the world you want to change

At Mutiny, we are committed to empowering individuals of all backgrounds, experiences, and identities to reach their potential. We believe in balanced teams, which is why we have maintained a 50% male-to-female ratio in our investors and are committed to maintaining diversity of gender, lifestyle, ethnicity, and thinking in our team as we scale.

Compensation

Mutiny is proud to offer a competitive compensation package to all full-time employees, including base salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits. The estimated salary range for this role for US-based employees is $180,000 - $215,000.

These ranges may be modified in the future.

Additional benefits:

  • Live and work from anywhere
  • Quarterly offsites in fun cities like Brooklyn and Austin
  • Flexible paid time off and generous parental leave
  • 100% medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • $1,500 WFH stipend
