The challenge

This is why Lever seeks a VP of Product Marketing to partner with other brilliant Leveroos to achieve our goal and mission.

In this role, you and your team's activities will include product strategy, platform/product positioning, content creation in various media formats, and enablement support.

As the VP of Product Marketing, you and your team will be at the center of our efforts to bring Lever's solutions to more companies across the globe. We're looking for a seasoned leader who is highly collaborative and has experience building strategic teams that can partner with product and guide GTM efforts. Your team will serve as the internal experts on the customer, product, competitors, and market position to inform product development and drive adoption, revenue, and customer delight.

The opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a product marketing professional interested in owning an award-winning platform solution that has helped over 5K customers up-level their hiring strategy and process to achieve success. This role has high exposure cross-functionally and with executive leadership. This role will continue to offer you professional growth and deep satisfaction. As a functional department leader driving results, you will report to the SVP of Marketing and have the opportunity to build, mentor, and inspire team members to grow and optimize our GTM execution.

The skill set

  • 15+ years of marketing experience, 10+ years of product marketing experience, and leadership working with complex SaaS products
  • 4+ years experience in managing and mentoring high-performance growth teams
  • Able to have sleeves rolled up attitude, but has also seen a significant scale of impact in their previous experience
  • Experience rolling out new products to a direct sales team and the interconnectedness of CRM and marketing automation systems
  • Hands-on experience leading and executing GTM/Launch projects for sophisticated cloud/SaaS-based B2B solutions
  • Direct experience leading PMK teams for SaaS companies is required
  • Direct experience working with HR personas is preferred
  • Excellent project management and leadership skills with an ability to drive the end-to-end execution of multiple initiatives simultaneously with minimal direction
  • Incredible appetite and aptitude to learn new technologies, turn into solutions, distill clear/compelling messaging, and evangelize internally and externally
  • Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization
  • Exceptional attention to detail and an eye for quality, but also an appreciation for iterating and getting things done
  • Excellent people management, team building skills, and the ability to challenge team members to uncover internal or external blockages
  • Bachelor's degree in business or marketing; MBA is a plus
  • Experience building strong working relationships across global teams is a plus
  • Exceptional writing skills and comfortable producing content (education and training) and inform content used for brand and lead generation.
  • Ability to think creatively and present the Lever platform in a differentiating way to the market.
  • Training in Pragmatic Marketing or Sirius Decisions (now Forrester Decisions) is a plus
  • Certification in Product Marketing Alliance is a plus

Within 1 month, you'll

  • Complete Ramp Camp, our onboarding program designed to get you up to speed on our business, vision, and team and understand how your role fits into Lever's broader organization.
  • Conduct 1:1s with your team to learn more about each person's strengths, interests, roles, and responsibilities.
  • Connect with Marketing and Sales Leadership to architect future efforts to achieve quarterly goals.
  • Work with the Lever Head of Marketing to understand upcoming fiscal year strategies and desired outcomes.
  • Meet with cross-functional teams to learn about customer pain points and shadow sales and customer calls to gain insights directly from our buyers and users.
  • Understand company and department OKRs and your impact
  • Complete a 30-day OKR (objectives and goals) to represent your focus

Within 3 months, you'll

  • Complete assessment of Lever Product Marketing to determine opportunities and strengths of the team
  • Define Product Marketing for Lever: Set the tone, priorities, and strategy for product marketing and its support for the company vision and go-to-market strategy
  • Identify strategic priorities for the business through market analysis, market sizing and segmentation analysis, customer research, win/loss interviews
  • Unify positioning and messaging to balance across the parent company and business units that highlights and builds upon Lever's strengths and opportunities: Guide and develop positioning, messaging, and branding for Lever
  • Expertly-Crafted Value Propositions: develop a compelling value proposition for Lever solutions (internally and externally), which deftly balances the technical details with the business benefits. Drive value-based selling of key products and services by developing and managing go-to-market messaging and supporting campaigns and initiatives.
  • Review and create a content roadmap for outbound use to support solution marketing initiatives and demand creation programs. Materials include website content, print, and digital collateral, videos and other interactive media, customer references, news flashes, white papers, and other documents. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create promotional marketing programs and ensure sustainability.

Within 6 months, you'll

  • Build and lead a high-performing Product Marketing team, setting clear goals and measuring outcomes.
  • Directly own specific projects you are responsible for and tracked within OKRs. Establish and inspect OKRs to measure the efficacy of growth initiatives. Each team member of the department has clear OKRs that align back to department and company goals.
  • Partner closely with Executive Leadership and Product on setting overall category and product marketing strategy, as well as influence and refine short and long-term product roadmap (input, strategy, and pricing structures based on market and customer research findings, industry analyst interactions, and competitive research)
  • Build a repository of insights and socialize key learnings to the Lever community and CAB
  • High-impact Marketing Content: Develop and maintain solution-oriented content and ensure alignment with key stakeholder groups, including sales, demand generation, corporate communications, product management, business development, professional services, and management.
  • Build an engaged customer community and gather feedback, proof points, value stories, and ROI data that can be used both internally and in externally-facing marketing programs
  • Enable revenue teams to be successful through the creation of compelling customer-facing content and sales enablement materials, turning our product positioning into compelling experiences like videos, web properties, microsites, guides, slides, etc.
  • Sales & Customer Success Enablement: Create and deliver materials for reference by sales (direct & indirect) organization, including training, presentation materials, reference guides, FAQs, scripts, and battle cards that help drive solution adoption and create excitement and revenue success.

Within 12 months, you'll

  • Be the foremost authority on our buyers and contribute to strategic product direction decisions at the leadership level.
  • Lead the packaging and pricing framework to drive adoption and positive unit and segment economics. Partner with Revenue Operations and Finance teams to define, deliver and monitor the profitability of products
  • Go-To-Market Planning: Research and develop go-to-market strategies that balance market/competitive sensitivity with internal return on investment. Define the distinctive competence of the solution, specifically defining the market problem(s), the target buyer(s), and the solution differentiators. Assist with target market analysis, competitive analysis, differentiation, and value proposition. Lead tactical planning and execution of solution go-to-market efforts between cross-functional groups, define all aspects of solution positioning and rollout and establish sales and channel processes and communication strategies. Core planning areas will include compliance and industry focus.
  • Become the subject matter expert on our category and competitors, and build a growth and performance strategy that promotes our suite of solutions, integrations, and services in partnership with the GTM and demonstrate value and ROI over the goal
  • Architect upcoming fiscal year strategy and goals for the upcoming planning sessions for the next fiscal year by being the spokesperson and help build our brand through customer presentations, thought leadership webinars, and media interviews. Deliver compelling stories incorporating key input from customers, sales, product management, marketing communications, and others to identify market opportunities, influence portfolio strategy and planning, the analyst and press community, and product definition to define our growth and goals for each fiscal year.
