As a Principal Engineer on our Network Switching Fabrics team, you will evolve the switching Fabrics across all of Target to Open-source solutions. The Switching Fabric is the critical infrastructure that is essential to help Target deliver on its purpose "To help all families discover the joy of everyday life." We are the pathways that connect our Target guests and over 350,000 Team Members to our Target Tech delivered Services and Applications. This team is building the network of the future at Target through adopting open source operating systems and further developing them to meet Target's needs.

As a Principal Engineer on the Network Switching Fabrics team you will:

Be a technical leader in to architecting, building, and deploying the Switching Fabrics at Target. You will partner across the organization to drive technical architectures, roadmaps, and product release and migration plans. You will work with leadership to develop the product plans as Target continues our strategy of moving to Open Technology for our Network.

TECHNOLOGY:

Strong understand of Enterprise and Cloud Network Architectures.
Switching Operating Systems: Cumulus, SONiC, Cisco IOS, Cisco NXOS
Network Protocols: BGP, Spanning Tree, LLDP, MCLAG, LACP, ISIS, VXLAN,
Network Hardware: Experience in dealing with multiple OEM hardware provides. Extra credit if you have experience working with ODM suppliers
Software Development in Python
Metrics visualization with tools like Grafana

About You:

4 year degree or equivalent experience
10+ years of Networking Experience
Demonstrates strong knowledge of Network Architectures in large Enterprise and Cloud environments.
Demonstrates skills in delivering complex projects that span multiple technology domains such as Compute, Storage, and Network
Demonstrates strong knowledge of Network Switching topologies both L2 networks and L3 Networks.
Demonstrates strong knowledge of L2/L3/L4 Networking Protocols BGP, Spanning Tree, LACP, VRRP, and MCLAG.
Experience utilizing CI/CD technologies (Git,Jenkins/Drone)
Experience with programming languages in either python, java, or go
Demonstrate some proficiency with Linux Operating Systems
Understands the concepts of network design and architecture of large scale networks
Write technical documentation in support of what you design and build
Resolves routine and non-routine technical issues with minimal assistance
Builds strong commitment within the team to support the appropriate team priorities
Maintains technical knowledge within areas of expertise
Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Original Device Manufacturing suppliers
Experience using configuration management technologies like Ansible or Saltstack
Experience with EVPN and VXLAN

This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location . A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $137,500-$247,500.
