The Designer II will work closely with internal and extended project team and assist in the completion of sets of project contract documents, including construction drawings, component and equipment schedules, specifications and coordination of consultant documents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned.

  • Follow and create conceptual design concepts, final design concepts, construction documents and construction administration through the course of projects under the direction of the Job Captain or Project Manager.
  • Transform initial rough designs by Job Captain or Project Manager into working documents using current technologies as needed.
  • Support other SAA offices with design needs either in-house or remotely as required.
  • Consult and support other SAA employees and clients or consultants on the development of plans and specifications.
  • Ability to space plan from program and meet programming requirements.
  • Capable of developing a program for design and translating to space plan.
  • Capable of developing pricing plans to establish project budget.
  • Coordinates with team to meet Code and Zoning requirements.
  • ADA Code knowledge and ability to complete ADA Survey.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients.
  • Develop 3D models or design concepts.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years progressive relevant experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years' experience in corporate interior design projects and tenant improvement.
  • Competent and knowledge of 2016 California Building Codes and Title 24 Code Compliance.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the industry/profession. Including but not limited to office space planning, relevant color and material knowledge, current knowledge of building codes.
  • Ability to learn and grasp new concepts quickly with a willingness to learn and accept new challenges.
  • High level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Multi-tasking ability and good judgment.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage tasks against deadlines and other metrics.
  • Self-starter, motivated, takes initiative, has strong work ethic.
  • Proficiency with computer tools and applications, skills should include Revit, AutoCad, Illustrator, Photoshop, SketchUp, 3D Max and most Microsoft suites or similar.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is an Exempt Full Time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

TRAVEL

This position requires up to 10% local travel. Limited travel may include attending meetings and work sessions in other SAA Offices, Client Offices, or Job Site. Mileage will be reimbursed at predetermined

market rate. Individual must possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record and have reliable transportation.
