Revolt Media & TV

Associate Creative Director

Revolt Media & TV

Remote job description

Working at #00000 (REVOLT's internal Creative/Content Agency):

We are a content/creative agency created out of REVOLT. The agency seeks to move culture by fusing Black culture and creativity with art and technology. Our storytelling authentically connects with Black audiences while inspiring broader audiences. We want to find people who believe in our mission and goals and feel inspired to grow while they're here, rather than someone who checks the boxes but isn't invested.

The Associate Creative Director is a conceptual, strategic thinker and a collaborative team player. You must be an excellent storyteller with sharp marketing/advertising acumen to quickly identify the best solutions for a client's problems. We work at a fast paced, so divergent thinkers are the key to exploring many different conceptual solutions. What you do and make should BE culture itself as that is our passion and superpower.

We bring Black cultural inspiration to content with references to visual art, film, TV and technology. As the Associate Creative Director, you're capable of being multifaceted and responsible for elevating and evolving the agency's creative output. You're expected to be very hands on with your work and team.

You'll work side by side with Design Director & ECD as needed to invent culturally relevant branded content that's award winning, newsworthy, and demanding of people's time and attention. You will aid in developing and pitching branded content, event activations, and tech-inspired programs.

You'll also be expected to work closely with the Production department to oversee the creative execution. Help foster the strengths of the creative team while aiding in managing a wide variety of work, including but not limited to developing custom content proposals/pitches, developing in-show graphic packages that integrate brands into the work, ideating on innovative content formats, and building out new partnership opportunities for clients. You must bring all talent (copy, design, and art direction) together in a singular vision.

We are a newly formed group, so this role is a freelance position with the opportunity to transition to full-time. The team is highly creative, culturally curious, and collaborative. We thrive in self-sufficiency, personal ownership and expansive thinking.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the ECD, you'll work directly with other creatives and cross-functional teams to concept, develop, and present brand partner ideas and programs.
  • Develop impactful proposals in response to client briefs, including various executions such as editorial and photo features, social-first initiatives, event activations, and video series for a combination of tactical elements working together to create innovative partnership programs
  • Work towards proactively creating new ideas and branded content initiatives internally and guide junior team members to ensure the team is immersed in Black culture and content.
  • Ideate and create direct multi-layered (format) branded projects, including creative oversight during production
  • Take creative feedback from multiple sources and sort out how to address it, directly or indirectly, for the benefit of the work
  • Drive creative direction and vision for your project (and sometimes multiple projects), making sure nothing backslides over the course of creative development
  • Lead your team in developing creative presentations, coordinating pitches, being a strong creative representative in front of clients, handling shoots, etc.
  • Jump in to teach more junior creatives whenever the opportunity arises. Your knowledge is invaluable to them

Skills:

  • Experience spanning advertising agency, digital media, or marketing experience focused on brand campaigns
  • A strong portfolio of diverse work
  • Knowledge of and familiarity working creative software
  • Strong presentation and writing skills
  • Ability to take client briefs and translate them into a winning creative proposal
  • Knowledge and interest in the evolving digital media industry and emerging trends in culture
  • Capable of managing, mentoring, and directing internal and external creatives, taking responsibility for the completion of projects
  • A career history of 5+ years agency experience with at least one or two surprising choices
  • Ability to balance owning and delegating
  • A scrappy and resourceful attitude; interest in coming up with earned media ideas with limits on budget or time
  • Willingness to speak up and voice your opinions on the audience, the brand, etc
  • An openness to feedback from the entire team and a willingness to be vulnerable with your ideas
  • Interpersonal savvy: the ability to relate well to all kinds of people, build rapport, form constructive and effective relationships, utilize diplomacy and tact, and diffuse even high-tension situations comfortably
  • A history of participating in culture in a genuine way; cultural taste in design, copy, art direction, music, fashion, technology, etc. All the magical stuff we use to make our work
  • Integrity and trustworthiness; ability to be direct and truthful, present the unvarnished truth, keep confidences, admit mistakes, and never misrepresent oneself for personal gain
  • Honesty, honesty, honesty. With creatives, with clients, with colleagues, and with yourself
  • A deep understanding of cultural audiences and contemporary culture
