Senior Scientist, Applied NLP

The Cohere platform provides access to Large Language Models through its APIs that read billions of web pages and learn to understand the meaning, sentiment, and intent of the words we use in a richness never seen before.

We recently raised our Series B, signed a multi-year partnership with Google Cloud, and we are focused on bringing our technology to market. We will partner with customers so they can build natural language understanding and generation into their products with just a few lines of code.

As a Senior Scientist - Applied NLP, you will:

• Engage with enterprise customers to understand their needs.
• Develop, run and evaluate experiments on large datasets and document corpora.
• Be the heaviest user of our product, and provide feedback to shape and improve it
• Help bring to production specialized NLP endpoints.
• Collaborate closely with experienced Software and Machine Learning Engineers, and other experts.
• Ensure that we are building the most useful NLP platform around.
• Mentor junior NLP scientists and help build the emerging applied NLP team.

You may be a good fit if:

• You have experience solving industry-specific problems with NLP (e.g: classification, semantic search, etc.).
• You have familiarity with autoregressive sequence models, such as Transformers.
• You are proficient in Python, Colab Pro, and one of TensorFlow, Pytorch or Jax.
• You are used to running lots of experiments, addressing data mismatches, training and testing on different distributions.
• You enjoy cross-functional collaboration across teams.
• You have excellent communication and presentation skills.
• You possess strong analytical skills including formulating a logical approach to problem-solving, and planning work.
