Senior Risk Analyst

Check is a payroll-as-a-service API that lets you embed payroll directly in your vertical SaaS, HR, or time-tracking platform. Our API abstracts away the complexities of running payroll: tax calculation, remittance, and filing, plus the movement of money between companies and employees. This enables companies to easily build fully integrated payroll products to offer to their customers.

We are looking for a Senior Risk Analyst who will be responsible for risk monitoring, fraud investigation, and reviewing business activity. Self-management will be the key to success in this position on this expanding team. Strong candidates have 5+ years of experience in credit underwriting, fraud investigations, recovery management, and payments compliance.

In this role you will:

• Monitor and investigate payroll processing activities using internal and external risk monitoring tools
• Complete investigations as necessary to ensure compliance with FinCEN rules and to mitigate fraud and credit risk
• Review and understand company and ownership documentation to produce credit decisions
• Answer inquiries from our customers with regards to risk management via email and phone support
• Ensure that efficient and quality services are delivered to both internal and external customers that meet or exceed agreed service standards
• Review, identify gaps, and enhance the effectiveness of existing controls to detect and prevent fraud
• Be an active player in risk management forums to ensure Check is ahead of the latest patterns and trends
• Perform other risk-related duties as required

Many backgrounds could fit this role, but ideal candidates will have some or all of the following:

• 5+ years of financial services experience with exposure to payments/banking risk and regulatory compliance
• Experience working with external partners, vendors, or clients within the financial services industry
• Effective communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
• Confidence in attending and participating in cross-functional team meetings across multiple time zones in the organization
• Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills
• Strong time management skills
• Able to troubleshoot and juggle multiple projects and prioritize
• High energy and flexible in a constantly evolving team environment
• Comfortable making decisions with large monetary implications
• Considers themselves part of a team yet comfortable working independently
• SQL and Python skills are a plus

The expected annual salary for this role is between $130,000 and $143,000, dependent upon each candidate's unique experience and qualifications.
