We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer, who will play a critical role in making Reddit's experimentation platform world-class.. We seek a candidate who can help translate the statistical methodology of A/B Testing into scalable data pipelines that are flexible, debuggable, and fast. Ultimately, this Software Engineer role will enable the Experimentation Platform Team's mission to accelerate innovation and growth through actionable, opinionated, and trustworthy A/B testing. You will be exposed to the full lifecycle of data at Reddit, and you will leverage one of the largest and richest datasets in the world.

Responsibilities:

This role spans a wide variety of responsibilities including: large-scale A/B test computation, experiment metric and health alerting, faster pipeline development, and improving detection and repair time for data pipeline regressions. These capabilities are foundational to providing better experimentation and feature rollout capabilities for Reddit. You will own data quality for crucial measurements at Reddit, and serve as a primary resource for data expertise and experimentation trustworthiness.

A successful candidate will work as part of a team to:

  • Design, develop, scale, and support Reddit's experimentation platform data pipelines.
  • Develop and operate high scale data products with a focus on live site reliability, trustworthiness of analyzed data, and debuggability/actionability for feature teams.
  • Monitor, improve, and guarantee the quality and trustworthiness of data being used to make decisions across Reddit.
  • Define and manage SLAs for datasets that support production experimentation.
  • Increase developer efficiency through automation, improved signals, workflow streamlining and system optimization.
  • Collaborate cross functionally within the Experimentation Platform Team and across the whole company to find technical solutions to complex design challenges.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years experience working with large scale ETL systems (implementation, strategy, and maintenance).
  • 4+ years of post-grad, non-internship, professional experience building clean, maintainable, object-oriented code in a production environment.
  • Strong SQL language proficiency.
  • Proficiency working with an object-oriented programming language (Python preferred) in a production environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders at all levels of the company.
  • Preferred: Proficiency with Airflow (or similar data/ETL tools) in a production environment.
  • Preferred: Experience with large-scale database/data warehouse systems like Google BigQuery.
  • Preferred: Experience working with A/B testing at scale.

This job posting may span more than one career level.

In addition to base salary, this job is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units, and depending on the position offered, it may also be eligible to receive a commission. We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function, level, and country location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including, skills, depth of work experience and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below.

The base pay range for this position is:
$190,800-$267,100 USD
