Lead Data Engineer Technology Platform

The mission of the Technology Platform tribe is to ensure Personio is built and operated with excellence. We are responsible for ensuring our application adheres to the highest technical standards, and ensuring our engineers have the tools and infrastructure to achieve this. We measure engineering excellence through core metrics of software development delivery. We use these metrics to drive initiatives that enable our peer engineering teams to build, test, deploy, monitor and operate Personio to the highest industry standards. We believe that technical engineering excellence is the foundation for product development excellence and the foundation of Personio's success as a company.

We crave data driven decisions and we are creating a new Data Engineering team to fulfill this need. We are looking for a Lead Engineer to set the foundations for this team and shape the data and engineering culture for our platform. You will work in an effective, autonomous enablement team, where you will have the freedom to define and build a high-impact driven environment. You will be responsible for building data pipelines, tools, libraries and microservices which enable the discovery, visualization, and analysis of data to fuel a data driven organization:

• Architecting and creating data pipelines is your primary responsibility. You will design, build and manage data pipelines which consist of a series of stages through which data flows.
• You will select and use modern tools, techniques and architectures to partially or completely automate the common, repeatable data preparation to minimize manual and error prone processes.
• You will need strong stakeholder skills to work with varied partners. In particular, you will work in close relationships with other product engineering and business intelligence teams in refining their data requirements.
• You will ensure compliance with data classification and handling guidelines

What you need to succeed

• At least four years professional experience in data management, data architecture, data integration, modelling, optimization, and data quality and other relevant to data engineering tasks.
• At least two years of experience working in teams with collaborators to support a cross-team data management and analytics initiative.
• Experience with advanced analytics tools or scripting using languages such as Go or Python, potentially hosted on AWS EC2 or Lambda
• Experience with design and management of data pipelines for data structures encompassing data extraction, load, transformation, data models, schemas, and metadata.
• Experience analysing and optimizing existing ETL processes, data integration, data preparation flows and moving them in production.
• Experience working with a some or all of these technologies: NoSQL, RDBMS, AWS Redshift, Athena, PostgreSQL, MySql and DynamoDB
