Amazon Web Services is looking for a highly motivated Technical Business Developers (Tech BD) to help accelerate our growing business as part of the World Wide Public Sector practice. As a Tech BD, you will demonstrate a breadth and depth of knowledge across a wide range of technology domains. You will have strong interpersonal skills, experience serving customers in Federal Government, Local Government, Education, and Non-Profit verticals, and a demonstrated passion for creative problem solving through the use of technology. You will use AWS services to help our partners rapidly get products and services to market through continuous delivery solutions, building highly scalable web and mobile applications, architecting large-scale solutions, and enabling data-driven decision making through big data technologies. Further you will help drive partner opportunity pipelines through enablement and advocacy of partners' pre-sales organization.

As a member of the Strategic Solutions Providers (SSP) Partner Solutions Architecture team, you will drive technical enablement and opportunity support for revenue and opportunity growth across a defined set of partners. As a trusted partner advocate, you will help your partners understand and implement best practices around advanced cloud-based solutions, and how to migrate existing workloads to the cloud. You will have the opportunity to help shape and execute a strategy to build mind-share and broad use of AWS. You will build and leverage relationships within your partners' organization to advocate for and evangelize the use of AWS. You will also need to be adept at interacting, communicating and partnering with other teams within AWS such as services teams, sales teams, marketing, and professional services, as well as representing AWS to customers with your partner(s).

This role may require up to 25% domestic and international travel.

Key job responsibilities

  • Work exclusively with AWS Strategic Solution Provider Partners.
  • Aligns public sector customer challenges and objectives to services and solutions available in the AWS Cloud.
  • Builds and maintains technical, "trusted advisor" relationships with influential technical and business decision-makers within partner organizations for the successful adoption of AWS services and technologies.
  • Drive your partners' AWS revenue growth through technical enablement activities such as hands-on workshops, demonstrations, and solution design.
  • Collaborate with partner- and end customer-facing sales teams to create and execute business plans to accelerate customer AWS adoption at-scale, exceed revenue goals, and drive customer satisfaction.
  • Work within a large, virtual sales team comprised of account managers, solutions architects, operations specialists, and technology specialists to create, find, develop, and close sales opportunities with partners serving customers in public sector verticals.
  • Identify and share best-practices among the AWS Public Sector Partners and Programs team.
  • Author or contribute to customer- and partner-facing publications and materials such as whitepapers, tutorials, webinars, and blogs.

Basic qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in the design, sale, and implementation of complex IT solutions, including modern datacenter and cloud architectures.
  • 4+ years of proven experience in a consultative technical sales or professional services role, supporting the sale of IT infrastructure (server, storage, networking), database, IT orchestration, virtualization, or application modernization products and services.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering (or equivalent experience).

Preferred qualifications

  • Current IT certifications in cloud computing, networking, security, or software development
  • Professional experience in the design, implementation, and/or management of enterprise-scale solutions on AWS.
  • Proven track record in the successful sales growth of a hosted, cloud-based, or Software-as-a-Service product or service to public sector customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business and technical challenges, with an ability to gain credibility and build relationships at all levels within an organization.
  • Experience selling technology through partners, in indirect, channel-based models
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across internal and external organizations and virtual/extended teams.
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or equivalent technical degree
  • Fluency in a second language, especially Spanish, Portuguese, French, or German
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon's leadership principles requirements for this role
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon's functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
