Communications Lead, Tech Org

Stripe's mission is to increase the GDP of the internet and expand economic access globally. By making it easy for new businesses to get started and equipping owners with the tools they need to grow, we aim to break down barriers to entry.

We, too, are growing quickly around the world, particularly within our Tech organization. Keeping Stripes in the Tech org, across many time zones and functions, informed, engaged, and connected demands a lot of thoughtfulness, empathy, and willingness to research and experiment.

We're looking for a comms lead who can keep Stripes in Tech rowing in the same direction, enable Stripes in every role and level to communicate as effectively as possible, and work with our Comms team to ensure we're telling a consistent Stripe story across all of our audiences. This role will report directly to our Chief Technology Officer and support our CTO and other senior Tech leadership with their internal executive communications, as well as select external executive engagements, in partnership with the Communications team.

The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, people oriented, and culturally attuned, and they're confident and comfortable working closely with founders and senior executives. They are as strong a systems thinker as they are a writer and have some technical writing experience in their background.

You will:

• Establish and oversee the channels, forums, cadence, publications, standards, processes, systems, and rules by which Stripes communicate within, to, and on behalf of the Tech org; includes running Tech Org Monthly and other forums or publications (e.g., newsletters) that provide leadership touch points with Tech Stripes
• Develop and execute a Tech comms strategy that helps inform, enable, engage, and connect Tech Stripes and supports the company-wide comms strategy
• Partner with the Internal Comms team to best represent the Tech org on the company stage (e.g., Company ATH, Nonvergence, Friday Firesides)

We're looking for someone who has:

• 7-10 years of communications experience, including 5+ years of internal communications and 5+ years of executive communications
• Demonstrated skill in strategy development, communications coaching, narrative development, ghostwriting, speechwriting, and change comms
• Impeccable writing skills, including some technical writing experience
• A strategic mindset balanced with an ability to sweat the details
• A propensity for working from first principles, converting challenges into opportunities, seeing what's on the horizon, and considering the effects of change within a complex system
• A willingness to work across different time zones to ensure smooth communication between Stripes around the globe
• Curiosity and a desire to dive into complex problems to seek out better solutions
