Business Editor

Devex

Remote job description

Job Location: Global remote position, preference for EMEA

What you'll do here

We are looking for a business editor to grow our subscription-based Devex Pro and Pro Funding content and engage this professional audience. That means reporting on funding trends, procurement issues, and fundraising strategies. You'll be interviewing donor officials, contractor and NGO executives, and development practitioners and bringing their insights to your audience. And you'll be writing and editing listicles and how-to articles.

You'll focus on stories like:

  • Top private foundations funding global health
  • How NGOs are adapting to crowdfunding trends
  • A profile of a fast-growing aid contractor
  • A Q&A with the VP of International Programs of a major INGO
  • How local organizations are succeeding as prime contractors

Your first year will look a little bit like this?

In your first 90 days, you'll focus on listicles related to development funding, and building out a process for regularly publishing them.

Your responsibilities will grow to include:

  • Authoring a weekly newsletter in your voice
  • Landing interviews with donor officials and contractor and NGO executives who deal with business, funding, and procurement issues
  • Developing feature stories on major development funding trends
  • Profiling notable global development organizations and uncovering insights into their business models

After your first year, you'll have a strong grasp of our professional Devex Pro and Pro Funding audience and the global development community. You'll have written and edited listicles, Q&As, and profiles, and gained a deep understanding of what our audience is looking for. You'll have helped Devex grow its Pro and Pro Funding subscriber base through the compelling, high quality journalism you've produced.
