Software Engineer

We're making digital payments safer and easier for everyone by building accessible financial infrastructure for developers and seamless products for consumers.

We started with a consumer product that reimagines the way people and businesses spend money online using ephemeral payment card numbers. Last year we launched an API on top of our transaction processing and core banking infrastructure. We made it available to other engineers, entrepreneurs, and creators through a simple, developer first API that is now used by some of the most innovative startups, fintech companies, and neobanks.

As an early member of the team, you will make a significant impact on both the product and culture. You'll have the chance to work on a multitude of interesting challenges across card processing, API architecture, fraud and abuse detection, scaling, and new product development.

About the role

As a software engineer at Privacy, you should be just as comfortable working with Javascript callbacks as you are with multiprocessing in python, as well as wearing the occasional DevOps hat. Depending on your interests, you'll have the opportunity to work on a variety of areas and languages, including:

• Improving our fraud modeling and ML classifiers that detect anomalous behavior and prevent fraud
• Updates to our real-time transaction processing engine with millisecond response times
• New features for both the hundreds of thousands of consumers using our product and the hundreds of businesses using our API
• Building out growth hooks, A/B testing and supporting growth and retention efforts

What we're looking for

• 2+ years of experience shipping code in a production environment
• Proficiency in at least one language - we work in Javascript / Python / C++ / Java / SQL, but care much more general engineering skill than knowledge of a particular language or framework.
• An understanding of the balance between perfection and shipping quickly
• Awareness that code is written as much for humans to read and maintain as it is for machines to interpret
• Ownership of the features from start to finish
• Understanding of algorithms, systems, and design
