Software Developer, Security

We are looking for a Node.js software developer to join our security team, which works to improve the security stance of the BitPay platform. Experience in security is desired, but we do provide the opportunity to learn. The responsibilities for this position include hardening existing code against malicious actors, ensuring that the design, application, maintenance of software meets the security standards of the company, and eventually analyzing potential security risks of new proposals.

To be successful as a Software Developer on our security team, you should have an interest in software security. Specifically interests in finding exploits, determining and applying effective mitigations for vulnerabilities, and designing secure systems, as they will be the foundation of all of your responsibilities.

Day to day activities early on:

• Learning the structure and logical sections of the BitPay backend platform
• Updates to security validation rules
• Monitoring and improving authentication security mechanisms

Responsibilities:

• Designing, coding, and debugging security related issues in software
• Updating existing code to meet the latest security standards
• Recommending new technologies that can help increase security
• Investigating vulnerability reports from external and internal sources
• Collaboration with our senior development team to adjust security related processes
• Regularly attending team meetings to discuss projects, brainstorm ideas, and put forward solutions to any issues
• Provide risk analysis support for new projects

Requirements:

• 2+ years experience in server-side development with Node.js
• Analytical skills with an interest in software security
• Good communication skills
• A strong desire to continuously learn
• Basic application security knowledge
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience

• Strong understanding application security
• Proven server-side security experience
• A portfolio of previous projects demonstrating javascript and security knowledge
