What you'll work on daily

• Work on Discord in React & Python, but also using Rust, Elixir, Kotlin, and Swift.
• Build new features across our iOS, Android, Web apps and our marketing site.
• Architect elegant and maintainable code with a focus on autonomy and support from the team.
• Work on meaningful projects that allow for users to have more delightful conversations
• Work with your squad to product features across the UX, API, and services layers.
• Work with designers to develop delightful interfaces and experiences.
• Using experiments and user research to iterate and learn

Things we look for

• 4+ years experience writing Javascript (React, TypeScript), Android (Kotlin, RxJava), or iOS (React Native, Objective-C) development frameworks and fundamentals. We don't expect everyone to be an expert in all of these, and everyone has their specialties, but the more platforms you're comfortable with (or want to learn!), the faster we can move.
• 4+ years experience in backend development (we use Python primarily)
• Experience building and shipping product features-we do far more than build landing pages.
• An eye for visuals. Design skills are not required but you can critique and modify existing designs.
• Experience working with other engineers, and designers and non-engineers.
• Experience making hard trade-offs between important goals to get the right things built quickly
• A collaborative culture where growth from within is encouraged
• Open-source leadership and contributions.
