THE CHALLENGE

This is an awesome opportunity to work on a highly visible product that impacts millions of users! You can play an integral role on the Personalization team, which means you leverage machine learning and AI to use attendee data and build logic that identifies future event recommendations for them.

THE TEAM

The Personalization team owns the Recommendations Platform which ensures Eventbrite is seen as a trusted resource for finding the best events anywhere in the world! We build products that deeply understand the interests of users, so we can re-engage them using our attendee insights and recommending additional events we know will resonate with them. We want them to keep coming back to Eventbrite, because our recommendations prove how well we understand them.

YOU WILL

    • Partner directly with product management, product design, and data analysts to get a deep understanding of how our users explore our inventory.
    • Evolve and continuously improve the systems over time based on explicit and implicit feedback.
    • You will architect the systems to most effectively satisfy our users' needs.
    • Collaborate with Engineering leadership and inspire teams to adopt best practices and infrastructure to drive growth and resiliency.
    • Love to mentor others? You'll get to help develop engineers into technical leaders.

THE SKILL SET

    • Strong experience as a backend or data engineer with prior system design work that demonstrates understanding of backend web technologies, datastores, data pipelines and distributed batch-processing systems.
    • Experience with the AWS ecosystem and Microservices or a directly similar cloud-based technology.
    • Ability to leverage existing skills while also being resourceful about learning new relevant skills on the fly as needed.
    • Values collaboration and demonstrates great communication

BONUS POINTS

    • Prior experience with generating recommendations, working with Machine Learning, or familiarity with basic data science principles.
    • Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, Python, or Django.
    • E-commerce or marketplace experience.
