As a Senior Mobile Engineer I you'll sit at the intersection of Design, Product, and Engineering as we build a beautiful and intuitive interface to power local commerce. You'll utilize your expert knowledge of React Native and Typescript with your eye for stunning designs to produce unrivaled user experiences, working to further elevate our web and mobile-based applications.

We are looking for highly proficient software engineers who are passionate about creating elegant solutions, solving complicated problems, maintaining high code quality with speed, and sharing learnings along the way (both internally and externally).

What you'll do here:

• Work closely with the Product and Design teams to bring to life delightful user experiences.
• Collaborate with an extraordinarily talented team of engineers across GraphQL and React Native codebases.
• Implement and configure modern front-end bundling and build solutions (such as webpack/vite/snowpack) to optimize performance and modularity.
• Enhance our internal component libraries with reusable and well-styled components.
• Translate product requirements into approachable engineering tasks and designs.
• Write clean, readable, performant, secure, and documented code. Understand the limitations of systems/codebase and continuously iterate with your team and product to reduce gaps.
• Evolve and refactor parts of our codebase to align with modern practices. Establish technical standards and best practices.
• Perform code reviews to maintain high code quality.
• Identify and proactively tackle technical debt
• Leverage testing frameworks and automation to ensure regressions are not introduced ahead of production
• Measure and monitor systems to make data-driven decisions; build dashboards and automated alerting for important metrics.
• Be a thought leader and Boulevard brand ambassador through blog posts, interviewing, open-source contributions, and other technical community participation.

What you'll need to thrive:

• Programming Experience: Have at least 5+ years of programming experience working on mobile (iOS, Android) and web-based applications & products.
• React Expert: Must have real-world experience with React/React-Native/TypeScript.
• CS Foundations: Strong knowledge of computer science principles. Consistently raising the level of technical competency across the team.
• Pride in the Work: Pride for the work you do and care deeply about the products which consume your services. Prioritize time and tasks appropriately, placing emphasis appropriate to risk and urgency.
• Bias Towards Action and Incremental Value: Ability to collaborate and iterate with partner roles in order to help drive discussions and surface tradeoffs that accelerate decisions.
• Team Player: Working in highly performant and collaborative teams.
• Design Appreciation: Strong appreciation for good design. Weigh in on technical decisions and designs that impact the platform broadly.
• Mentor and Mentee: Smarts, humility, communication skills, and equal willingness to teach and learn. Mentors other team members through pair programming, quality code reviews, and documentation. Teach to fish vs. feed.
• Building Solutions: Contribute to our engineering culture by proposing ideas, tools, and infrastructure wherever you see a problem to be solved.
• A Passion for Customers: Respond to and resolve customer needs in sync with Customer Support partners.

Bonus points for:

• Experience working on cross-platform React Native apps.
• Experience with native code (Objective-C, Swift, Kotlin) and writing bridges in React Native.
• Experience with GraphQL client libraries and different caching strategies.
• Demonstrating work beyond the front-end, experience in integrating with a wide array of back-end technologies and services.
• Experience with functional programming languages such as Elixir.
• Experience constructing data visualizations using libraries like D3.js.
• Built, documented, and monitored a public API platform | Experience building PCI and HIPAA compliant systems.
• You maintain or contribute to an open-source project.
