Sr. SDET (Localization)

*Contract role to the end of 2022*

The Internationalization (i18n) team is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to design, implement, and maintain all aspects related to testing of our localization platform, which enables users to experience community and share interests in their preferred language.

This is a part-time, contract position with an expected average of 30 hours per week. You will work closely with our Localization Engineering team to create and maintain scalable, robust testing tools and workflows that yield high-quality outputs across all supported languages.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and evolve localization-specific test automation frameworks, tools, and processes, including UI and snapshot testing
  • Define the i18n engineering organization's vision of unit/integration/end-to-end testing
  • Spearhead process workflows that leverage automated testing and manual QA to ensure high quality across all supported languages
  • Evaluate opportunities and gaps in our localization test strategy, focusing on support of our upcoming language roadmap, including Chinese/Japanese/Korean (CJK) and right-to-left languages
  • Devise methodologies for effectively identifying and triaging bugs affecting localization
  • Facilitate audits of web and mobile platforms to identify adaptations required for upcoming language roadmap

Who you might be:

    • 5+ years of experience as an SDET, or as a software engineer
    • Strong preference for experience in software localization, translation or linguistics
    • Strong preference for experience designing and building scalable automated test frameworks, tools, and processes for mobile (iOS and Android) applications
  • Strong preference for 2+ years experience with Android development using Java or Kotlin
  • Experience writing, executing, and monitoring automated test suites for web using technologies like Selenium, WebDriverJs, Mocha, Chai, Jest, Cypress, and PhantomJS
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD process and quality checks in the workflow
  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies for web and mobile applications releases
  • Working proficiency and communication skills in verbal and written English
  • Ability to describe linguistic challenges, cultural questions, and concepts to stakeholders
