A bit about our Technology: We are using the latest progressive and native web technologies, alongside headless e-commerce tools and systems, to create a shopping experience nothing like what people experience today. Technologies include Next.js and React, GraphQL, deployed with Terraform on AWS. Driven by data science, machine learning and analytics, from multi-variant testing through to personalising the shopping experience, every customer will have a unique and tailored experience just for them, across every digital channel.

Quality assurance engineers are instrumental to the success of our engineering teams. This key role will see you helping to define and implement the testing strategy across our products. We'll look to you to define and continually improve the testing strategy for new and existing products. You'll have the opportunity to collaborate with software engineers from all specialisms to discover and build solutions that ensure reliable and scalable testing of our software and deliver a high quality, secure product to our customers at pace.

You're self-motivated with a passion for both business and technology innovation and can clearly understand the user experience and apply this understanding to enhance the overall customer experience.

As an established engineer, you'll have experience across a range of technologies and testing techniques, which should include some that feature in our stack and current quality assurance practices: AWS Serverless, Node.js, TypeScript, Specification by Example, build pipeline automation.

Description of the role

This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to join our team. On a day to day basis, you will be responsible for:

A typical day-to-day:

• Assisting others in your team to test our software and acting as an expert
• Developing clean, elegant, and reusable code that is easy to maintain and extend
• Be accountable for identifying, and implementing, opportunities for automation to help reduce the test and release cycle in each team
• Maintaining a supportive and engaging team culture focused on quality assurance

You will also be a key contributor to:

• Defining the team's approach to testing, as well as providing technical mentoring and oversight for other engineers in the team
• Building scalable automated testing systems that enables us to deliver value to customers at pace
• Driving the direction of our testing community of practice to ensure that it maintains the highest standards of technology and process
• Embedding quality principles inside delivery teams so they can be self-sufficient.
• Embedding exploratory techniques into the teams so that depth is considered as part of the testing approach

Requirements

• An awareness of cloud infrastructure and configuration
• A strong understanding of specification by example and behaviour driven development
• Experience of exploratory techniques and how these are used to complement automation.
• Experience of delivering and testing distributed technical capabilities as part of an agile team
• Working collaboratively, able to communicate effectively and commitment to be part of a successful team
