OVERVIEW

Instacart is building deep and direct partnerships with retailers through its powerful Enterprise platform, ultimately aiming to be a part of every grocery transaction. Your mission is to make this ambitious goal a reality by owning and scaling a wide range of solutions spanning ecommerce, innovative in-store solutions (smart carts, consumer-driven apps, point-of-sale integrations), fulfillment technologies, loyalty/rewards/discounts, payment systems, and more.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Senior Manager of the Solution Delivery team, you will own a large portfolio of projects and responsibilities with a total value measuring in billions of dollars. You will execute these responsibilities through your team of architects and in partnership with Engineering, Product & Design, and Program/Project Management teams.

In your role, you will drive the development of a broad tech ecosystem, partnering with a wide array of stakeholders: retailers of every size (from giants to local favorites), leading industry providers of Enterprise solutions, and Instacart's own product and platform leaders. You will own the delivery of these solutions through your team, looking for efficiencies, and scaling opportunities via technology, process, automation, and platform evolution.

This role is highly demanding technically. You must have a strong engineering background with hands-on professional development experience, and a thorough understanding of system design, architecture, cloud platforms, and software development practices.

Leadership

• Demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset, constantly seeking opportunities for growth, improvement, and innovation within the team and across the organization
• Balance strategic goal-setting and decision making with necessary risk-taking
• Cultivate productive cross-functional relationships with senior product, business, and engineering leaders
• Serve as the primary advocate for the team across the larger organization

Management

• Lead and manage a team of architects at varying levels of experience and expertise
• Develop and oversee career progression plans for team members
• Develop and refine hiring processes
• Provide tactical advice and solutions on immediate issues
• Ensure a culture of intra-team communication and learning, and continuous development and excellence

Engineering

• Drive the development and enhancement of an enterprise ecosystem based on the Instacart platform
• Identify and exploit opportunities to scale delivery of retailer solutions
• Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to bring

External facing

• Lead discussions with Director up to CIO level partner stakeholders
• Serve as an escalation point for partner issues
• Guide and coach team members to greater capability in external-facing discussions

ABOUT YOU

• Deep engineering + leadership experience (2+ years as an IC, 5+ as an engineering leader)
• Outstanding ability to interface with external parties including clients and vendors, and across business and technical functions
• Strong ability to work cross-functionally, build consensus, and balance business needs against technical constraints
• Strong knowledge of best industry practices for building large scale and highly reliable solutions
• Experience working with/for both small and large businesses that work at different scales and speeds
