Junior software engineers: work from home for a cutting-edge UK software startup

Finding it hard to start a career in software? Unable to overcome the "no experience, no job" catch-22? We're looking for talented individuals who are passionate about starting a career in software engineering. We have a small but experienced team of friendly engineers who can mentor you, provide guidance, and help develop your career. You need to be based in the UK, comfortable with permanent remote working, and able to show that you've taken at least a first step towards learning to code. You don't need to have any previous work experience but it would be helpful to see examples of projects you've worked on.

Axsy specialises in creating outstanding software which delights its users. We're revolutionising the Salesforce apps which are used by businesses around the world. We've operated as a remote-working team since we founded the company over 10 years ago, and will continue to do so even when pandemic restrictions are eased. We are looking for determined self-starters to join us. You can work from home or a shared workspace of your choosing.

Our team is mainly based in the UK and we're only looking for applicants who live in the UK. If you need to fit work hours around other commitments, that's ok, and we trust that you can manage your own time effectively. We communicate using Slack, frequent video calls, and occasional in-person meet-ups (3-4 times per year). We're proud of both the team we've created and what we've achieved so far. We're punching above our weight and are expanding our team to achieve even more.

We're still a relatively small team. We're all good at what we do and enjoy working together. You'll have autonomy and respect from day one. No regulations or hierarchy, just a lot of interesting and challenging work to get done. You'll start working in our engineering team, initially helping with manual testing across iOS, Android, Windows to help learn what our apps do and how they interact with Salesforce. We're big fans of test automation and will expect you to learn how to write automated tests in Java, supported by the rest of the team. As you develop, we'll keep you provided with fresh & interesting challenges, and you can choose to continue the testing focus, or migrate to other roles in Axsy e.g. developing our mobile & web apps, working more closely with customers as a sales engineer, or helping meet custom requirements in our professional services team. We're serious about career development and you will meet team members who have already progressed into these roles from junior positions.

The most important skill to us is being able to pick up new concepts and technologies. We hope to find individuals full of energy and enthusiasm, with an eye for detail & good design. We're very open to new ideas, and our most recent joiners have already introduced new tools & techniques to the team.
