Remote job description

Figma is growing our team of passionate people on a mission to make design accessible to all.Born on the Web, Figma helps entire product teams brainstorm, create, test, and ship better designs, together. From great products to long-lasting companies, we believe that nothing great is made alone-come make with us!

We're looking for a skilled Figma user, with deep knowledge of the tool, and an understanding of how product teams function. You should be excited to share your design knowledge and Figma experience with others, and help enable the next generation of Figma designers. You are a creative, motivated, collaborative, and passionate educator.

Day to day, you will create compelling design files that educate new designers while using best practices. You'll be able to communicate the optimal steps to reach a design goal, sometimes using Figma itself as the education medium. You'll also publish those files to the Figma Community, and help motion designers bring those instructions to life in video tutorials on our YouTube channel.

This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.

Ready to apply? A portfolio of design work and/or a link to your Figma Community profile is required for applications for this position. If you've ever made tutorials or educational materials, be sure to share those as well!

What you'll do at Figma:

  • Create beautiful, high-quality, and educational Figma design files using best-practices. You'll publish them to the Figma Community.
  • Pressure test new features before they launch, to put them through a series of real-world use cases that push them to the limits.
  • Collaborate with Motion Designers to create Figma and FigJam files used in video tutorials.
  • Understand how users from different backgrounds, and experience levels learn to use Figma.
  • Work with our Product and Engineering teams to understand how new and existing features work.
  • Educate users about how to use Figma's Web and Plugin APIs to solve Design problems they may face.
  • Create interesting and educational visual designs, live action videos, and/or motion graphics.
  • Keep up-to-date on industry trends and understand the challenges of users switching to Figma.

Some projects you could work on:

  • Ideate new tutorial ideas, author scripts, and build Figma files that will be published to the Community.
  • Design a comprehensive education curriculum of written and video courses that align to the goals and objectives of new Figma and FigJam users.
  • Develop a framework for effectively incorporating general design knowledge into product tutorials.
  • Lead small design initiatives in the Product Education space, like redesigning portions of the Help Center.
  • Standardize a motion design library with our Motion Designers.

We'd love to hear from you if you:

  • Understand the ins and outs of designing at a company and the workflows and struggles faced by designers today.
  • Enjoy using Figma to build creative solutions to design problems.
  • Are eager to share your experience with new and prospective product designers.
  • Have experience building out strategic plans to reach an impactful end result.
  • Have an ability to identify the optimal way to teach complex concepts or features, and are okay with abandoning ideas that didn't work along the way.
  • Have experience with programming, especially Figma plugin development.

At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills. If you're excited about this role but your past experience doesn't align perfectly with the points outlined in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.

About Figma

Dylan Field and Evan Wallace co-founded Figma in 2012 with the vision of building tools for designers in the browser. Their goal was to create the first design tool that combined the accessibility of the Web with the functionality of a native app. Today Figma is a platform with tools and spaces to support the entire product development process-idea to design to build-and has simplified collaboration for companies like Microsoft, Uber, and The New York Times to name a few.

At Figma, we celebrate and support our differences. We know employing a team rich in diverse backgrounds, experiences, and opinions allows our employees, products, and community to flourish. Figma is an equal opportunity workplace-we are dedicated to equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national orientation, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, or Veteran status.
