Sales Engineer

The Role
Pilot's sales department threads together a deep expertise in the accounting and finance space, with a high-touch, consultative approach in every client interaction. The team today is a mix of sales professionals, as well as consultants coming directly out of the Big 4, operational accounting roles, and other advisory groups.

You'll help Pilot credibly connect with prospective clients by showcasing a deep understanding of their industry and their unique challenges while effectively articulating the value of Pilot's product.
You love to create genuine relationships, and will do so while differentiating Pilot's software and human approach to help our sales team acquire more customers. The day-to-day of this role includes working cross-functionally with our product specialists, partnering closely as a direct team member to the sales team, and representing Pilot on the phone with prospective clients.

Key Responsibilities

• At the highest level, the objective is simple: help the sales team acquire more customers by building credibility and trust in our sales process.
• You will do so by becoming deeply intertwined with our product and how it helps solve accounting pain points for various business models and different industries
• Provide operational system architecture recommendations and best practices to prospective customers in partnership with sales
• Analyze financials, accounting records, and business models to align on a scope of work
• Build trust with cross-functional stakeholders to keep various work streams and complex projects on track
• Work closely with members of our finance operations team to articulate industry or business model complexities and to help align on accounting methodologies and policies

About You

• You are someone who is highly competitive yet empathetic, self aware, and adaptive
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Experienced collaborator with c-suite, CFOs, controllers, etc
• Four year degree in accounting, business economics, or a related area of study
• Certified Public Accountant credential
• Five+ years of progressive accounting experience
• A deep understanding of accounting requirements for companies at various stages
• Audit or advisory firm (Big 4) experience
