We're searching for a Technical Program Manager to join Aurora's Platform Software and Services TPM team focusing on Vehicle System Software. The Vehicle System Software team is responsible for vehicle bring-up and all onboard system software including our AV Operating System, AV runtime framework, software deployment, offboard communications, and more!

In this role, you will

  • Partner tightly with Vehicle System Software engineering managers to drive successful execution in areas critical to the end-to-end autonomous vehicle lifecycle including new vehicle bring-up, onboard platform software capabilities, and ongoing fleet support, among others.
  • Serve as a go-to resource for information and up-to-date status for relevant feature areas
  • Relentlessly drive for clarity to ensure Vehicle System Software feature areas are working on the highest impact capabilities at the right time to ensure we meet our company goals.
  • Develop credible quarterly plans for engineering feature areas that position Vehicle System Software to meet its objectives and key results. Evolve program management and planning practices to balance pragmatism and need to establish durable and repeatable processes.
  • Understand key technical and architectural foundations of relevant feature areas and provide input on technical approaches and alternatives when needed.
  • Partner with other TPMs and Product Managers to understand the company product roadmap and identify Vehicle System Software work required to meet these objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with partner teams across software, hardware, systems engineering, and product to identify incoming and outgoing dependencies required for execution
  • Track and communicate progress of key team and project progress; Adjust project management approaches based on program size, expected duration, phase in lifecycle.
  • Proactively identify and remove obstacles to unblock team execution and balance competing priorities, escalating when necessary to maintain momentum and clear roadblocks.
  • Be a conduit for feedback from first-line operations and reliability engineers to improve product capabilities and development processes.
  • Help grow the TPM knowledge base and best practices by participating in internal team discussions and mentoring.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a Technical Program Manager, Product Manager, or Engineering Manager, in an autonomous systems, robotics, embedded systems, or software development environment. A familiarity with automotive platforms and/or autonomous vehicles is beneficial.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Information Systems or a related area, or the equivalent in experience with evidence of exceptional ability preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adjust communication based on audience.
  • Solid technical aptitude and an ability to understand technical designs, software development lifecycle, challenges and risks; ability to work closely with engineers.
  • Strong experience in project management; practical familiarity with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies and ability to apply them where best suited.
