OVERVIEW

ABOUT THE ROLE

Connected Stores bring together Instacart's modular in-store technology offerings and connect them with Instacart Platform's e-commerce solutions to help retailers deliver unified commerce experiences.

Within our Connected Stores organization, you will lead several key projects to help grocers build a unified, seamless, personalized experience both online and in-store. Our team focuses on several innovative, zero to one projects to bring new in-store technologies to our retail partners. Your role will be to lead some of these initiatives as they grow into more mature products and teams.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Connected Stores org is all about moving fast, iteration over large processes, and solving real problems for both consumers in the store and for our retail partners. We believe the grocery store of the future will transform customers' expectations

ABOUT THE JOB

  • You will lead a full-stack engineering team, including back-end, front-end, and native developers
  • You will provide hands-on technical management, guidance, and support including system design/code review, and the health of the systems your team builds
  • You will collaborate closely with Product Management, Design, and Data Science to make decisions and build a plan
  • You will participate in interviewing, hiring decisions, on-boarding, and mentoring of new Engineers with the goal of quickly making them productive members of your team
  • You will develop a team culture of ownership that reinforces the core values of Instacart

ABOUT YOU

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of experience leading a team of Software Engineers
  • Experience recruiting, hiring and helping Engineers grow in their career
  • Strong ability to balance pressing business needs along with shipping high quality and pragmatic solutions
  • Strong knowledge of best industry practices for building large scale and highly reliable applications
  • Strong analytical skills and a strong sense of ownership

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Experience working in both small and large businesses that work at different scales and speeds
  • Experience working on zero to one products
