Product Manager, Developer Experience

About the Role

As a Product Manager for Developer Experience, you'll own one of the most comprehensive and innovative growth products for developer learning on the internet and assume responsibility for the product's success. The role itself is a hybrid between growth product management and developer advocacy. In it, you will collate a vision for Confluent Developer, prioritize its roadmap, liaise with internal partners over content, optimize the developer experience, own the delivery of key business metrics published directly to the CEO, and take the product through the company's quarterly product planning process. You'll also manage internal relationships with docs, marketing, and in-product learning teams.

What You Will Do:

• Build and maintain a roadmap and vision document that defines the future state of the Confluent Developer product
• Review the latest business metrics for Confluent Developer and work with the Head of Developer Strategy to ensure we hit our company-level goals
• Research the state of the art in docs, training, and developer experience, disseminating this research to the wider organization as well as incorporating ideas from it into your own plan
• As content is created, provide feedback and nurture delivery to ensure that the quality of web, video, and written content is maximized
• Present new product proposals to the product organization and executive team as they are formulated
• Own and nurture the team's product relationships, both those that depend on us (Customer Solutions, In-Product Learning, Marketing) and those we depend on (web development, video production, etc.)
• Where possible, contribute your own content too!

What You Will Bring:

• 4+ years of experience as a product owner or senior contributor in developer relations
• Experience producing world-class developer content, ideally for cloud-based services
• Ability to build and manage relationships with dependent teams and manage an ongoing product relationship
• Experience managing a backlog backed by user stories and customer research
• Exceptional written and presentation skills; at Confluent we rely heavily on documents to explain the vision and facilitate concrete communication
• A deep understanding of the developer process, what makes developers happy, and how people learn and grow a technical career
• Empathy for all disciplines of a growing enterprise technology company including engineering, sales, marketing, and business development
