Strava

Product Analyst, Communications & Personalization

Strava

Remote job description

About This Role

Strava is the leading social platform for athletes and the largest sports community in the world, with over 85 million athletes in 195 countries. If you sweat you're an athlete, and Strava's mobile apps and website connect millions of active people every day.

We are looking for an analyst to join our Communications & Personalizations team within the Growth Organization. You will help us understand the big picture of how we're communicating with our athletes through multiple channels, as well as build the foundation to enable our product and marketing partners to experiment with communication strategies. You will be responsible for working with a team of product managers, engineers, machine learning engineers, designers, and product marketers, as well as our CRM team, to help support the daily operations of learning about how our athletes are responding to the content we share with them, and how that ladders up to our high level business goals. You will have a direct impact in guiding the team in planning for what's next to improve our athlete experience and business.

This role will report to an Analytics Manager and will also contribute to growing the capabilities of Strava's data platform and promoting data culture across the company.

You're excited about this opportunity because you will:

  • Define the metrics that will be used to evaluate the high level interaction with and performance of campaigns across multiple channels and product teams.
  • Support the team's product roadmap and planning by sizing opportunities to help prioritize new work. You will identify levers in the product as well as our communication platform to move team metrics and identify future strategic opportunities.
  • Build out infrastructure to help partners run experiments at scale. Support the design and management of experiments that allow us to move key business metrics through testing and iteration with communication channels.
  • Support the operations around building out the tracking infrastructure of how we configure, target, and run campaigns to understand how they affect our athletes.
  • Create dashboards that will enable cross functional partners to analyze performance of their initiatives.

You will be successful here by:

  • Designing and advocating for best practices in campaign configuration and experimentation setup that optimize for learning at scale.
  • Being eager to dig into data and find insights about how athletes interact with our communication channels and campaigns, and communicating those out to stakeholders to help inform product and strategy decisions.
  • Not being afraid to ask questions, learn, share and iterate on ways of working, your product space, and analytics capabilities.

We're excited about you because:

  • You have 3+ years of experience in analytics, data science, or other quantitative domains, and possibly experience in consumer-facing businesses. Prior experience in the CRM or Communications space is a plus.
  • You are a strong communicator with an orientation towards impact, and you are comfortable working both cross-functionally and independently.
  • You have a deep understanding of data pipeline concepts (e.g. ETL, scripting common analysis workflows).
  • You are highly proficient with SQL and have experience with Business Intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau).
  • You have hands-on experience with experimentation, including design, implementation, and methodologies (e.g. hypothesis testing and regression analysis) for analyzing and interpreting results to stakeholders.
  • You're comfortable managing concurrent projects and meeting goals, even in the context of competing deadlines or priorities.
