Remote job description

Squarespace is in the process of evolving our product experiences from art-led to science-led as we scale and become an all in one platform for creators and entrepreneurs. Data science and technology will be at the center of this evolution, and, as a Group Product Manager, you will make an important contribution in researching, framing, planning, prioritizing, and delivering data initiatives that support broader Squarespace business goals. You will develop an intimate understanding of our data consumption needs and will use this knowledge alongside a grasp of technical architecture and data infrastructure principles to create scalable data products and services.

You'll apply a product oriented approach to scope, understand, and prioritize development across:

  • Data Collection, Orchestration and Transformation
  • Data Storage
  • Data Governance & Privacy
  • Data Observability
  • Data Reliability
  • Usage & Performance Insights
  • Machine Learning
  • Data APIs

This enables analytics engineers, data scientists, and analysts to easily build downstream products and services that further amplify the value of our data and guide learning. Eventually, we want to provide Data APIs that the Squarespace product can use to provide data-driven in-product experiences.

You will report directly to a VP of Product Management and will have the option of working remotely within the U.S. or on-site (hybrid) at our NYC headquarters.

You'll Get To

  • Develop a detailed understanding of user needs
  • You'll undertake discovery to build upon our current knowledge of the user base and their needs (both current and future). With this, you'll develop specific products and tools that accelerate and amplify data consumption.
  • Success will be measured through the publication of detailed user profiles and research documents for each group that are then used to classify initiatives and help the team inform design approaches. These might be personas, jobs to be done statements, problem statements and other artifacts.
  • Craft and circulate a data platform vision and strategy
  • You'll assess Squarespace strategic goals and how these can be accelerated through data platform initiatives. With this insight, you'll partner with the team to create a product vision that outlines targeted outcomes alongside a strategy for how you will achieve them.
  • Success will be measured against the clarity of understanding and support for this vision both within the data platform team but also amongst your primary use base of analysts, data scientists and analytics engineers.
  • Take ownership and prioritize Data Platform integration needs
  • As we scale our adoption of source systems, there is an ever present need for new data to be securely onboarded into the data platform.
  • Success will be measured by the percentage of Squarespace data sources that are already ingested into the Data platform with each source meeting respective accuracy, latency and availability SLOs.
  • Coach and advise stakeholders
  • You'll partner with the analytics product managers to promote important data quality and reliability concepts, ensuring data creators and data consumers in other teams make changes responsibly with an appreciation of how they impact the value of data.
  • Success will be measured against the number of incidents and time spent correcting problems that were generated as a result source system changes (e.g. table schema changes or functionality changes)

Qualifications

  • 5-7+ years of relevant product experiences that can translate into defining platform vision and working with the best engineers, analysts and data scientists
  • Deep technical understanding of data warehousing architectures, the latest happenings in Big Data movement, and the product analytics space
  • A combination of business, product, and technical knowledge who can kick-start new projects and see them through to successful product adoption
  • Experience in an Agile scrum environment preferably played the role of a Product Owner, Scrum Master, or Engineering Lead
  • Bachelor's degree is required. MS in computer science or an engineering discipline is a plus

Benefits & Perks

  • Health insurance with 100% premium covered for you and your dependent children
  • Fertility and adoption benefits
  • Headspace mindfulness app subscription
  • Retirement benefits with employer match
  • Flexible vacation & paid time off
  • Up to 20 weeks of paid family leave
