The role:

We are looking for a Social Media Video Editor to create the very best gardening content for a new generation of gardeners. You will have a passion for creating beautiful, engaging, shareable and impactful visual content that is optimised for Instagram, Tik Tok, YouTube and Pinterest. In this role, you will be given the opportunity to share your knowledge of gardening both behind and in front of the camera, and you will have the chance to delight our audience by producing short form video that is always aesthetically vibrant. This role sits within the Creative team and you will be collaborating with the Chief Creative Officer, and working with the Social & Community lead, Creative Producer and a small team of contributors to create fresh, daily, useful gardening content that will inspire and help new gardeners fall in love with gardening and shop on Sproutl.

Responsibilities include:

  • Plan, film and edit video content on an agreed schedule and content calendar that communicates, inspires, tells stories and is highly shareable across our platforms - specifically Tik Tok, Instagram, YouTube and Pinterest
  • Develop and execute exciting content franchises and one-off posts for all channels.
  • Work with our Creative and Marketing teams, by generating and contributing visual-first ideas to briefs on a daily basis and to share ideas and references that continually evolve the brand and move designs forward
  • Edit researched content, and UGC content for use across all our platforms
  • Work with freelance contributors, influencers, and members of the Sproutl community to create content with them and put them in front of the camera
  • Work closely with the Creative Producer to ensure shoots run smoothly, and deliverables are clearly understood and deadlines are met.
  • Create and produce visual content that is optimised for ecommerce - making a virtue of limitations and capabilities so that the experience is optimised for our customers
  • Reiterate and reinforce the look & feel of the Sproutl brand and its message across all customer touch points in each design
  • Travel independently, with kit, to join shoots wherever they might be - nearly every shoot will be at a location, ranging from a London garden to a garden centre in the South East.

Key skills required

  • You will have film production experience - you will be able to shoot on an iphone, and with a camera; you will be able to record and edit sound appropriately; and possess basic animation skills.
  • You are as comfortable editing footage on Adobe and other pro software as you are on Instagram and TikTok, using in-app tools
  • You are naturally collaborative and possess strong storytelling skills. You can create stand-out, compelling video content that leaves the customer wanting more of the same
  • You will be obsessed with short-form video content, and be an active user on Tik Tok and Instagram
  • You will be a social native and be deeply embedded in the most popular platforms, and be proud of the following and engagement you have accumulated on your personal accounts
  • You will have an enthusiasm for gardening that's contagious, and have proven experience for talking about gardening
  • You understand how to work with other content makers, and know how to translate and transform ideas into visual stories
  • You will have experience of working with a mixture of people to get the best out of them on "film"
  • You will be confident "in-front" of camera, as well as behind it, because you will be expected to be on film
  • You will need to be self-sufficient and confident in managing projects from idea to execution.
  • You will have an understanding of how social platforms work and associated KPIs, and recognise what can influence social metrics.
  • You have a wonderful reference "folder" and love discovering new formats. You are always looking for ways to push ideas on with creativity at the heart of what you do
  • You can show a strong portfolio of relevant digital, creative work, ideally in interiors, design or fashion e-commerce
  • Pragmatism is your middle name: you have a good nose for figuring out when perfection is a must vs. when done is better than perfect (Though we'll always aim for perfection.)
  • Self-motivated, flexible and with impeccable attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work with a diverse range of cross functional teams across development & engineering, product development, business development, marketing and finance.
  • We don't expect a formal degree, but your depth and domain of knowledge is equivalent to that of a BA/BSc/MA in HCI, Information Systems, Computer Science, Graphic Design or similar.
