Remote job description

About Us
dbt Labs was founded in 2016 to empower analysts to create and disseminate organizational knowledge. Since then, we've grown to become one of the leading brands in the analytics industry. Our product, dbt, is used by thousands of companies. dbt Labs is a remote-first, values-driven company with a globally distributed team. You can learn more about our values here.

Our product marketing team is looking for someone with deep experience turning new positioning into compelling messaging that brings to life the value of dbt Cloud. In the 3 years since it was initially launched, dbt Cloud has experienced rapid adoption by data teams of all sizes. As such, it's quickly attracting attention from new audiences that need help understanding how it best fits into their unique use cases.

In this strategic and highly visible role, you can expect to work across our product, community, and solution architecture teams to surface the product positioning that will have the greatest impact on existing and emerging audiences at the enterprise.

In this role you can expect to:

    • Elevate the way we communicate about dbt Cloud through various mediums like thought leadership blogs, demo videos, one-pagers, and solution guides
    • Work closely with the Developer Experience and Growth Marketing functions to create a multi-prong approach to narrative amplification
    • Test audience strategy through customer interviews, and iterative messaging
    • Author and coordinate participation in messaging that helps our audience answer, "why dbt Cloud? Why now?"
    • Work closely with the Campaign, Pipeline, and Field marketers to customize product-related content for various audiences, industries, and regions
    • Measure messaging influence on self-service activation, sales-assisted pipeline volume, and enterprise deal velocity

You are a good fit if you have:

    • 3-5 years experience in Product or Content Marketing
    • Strong writer and communicator, with a knack for storytelling
    • Strong bias for action, experimentation, measurement, and iteration - you have a framework to ensure success, but you're not afraid to fail fast.
    • A passion for digging into market and audience trends to surface the most impactful messaging for each
    • A strong understanding of, and empathy for the challenges faced by modern data teams
    • Experience creating multi-channel content (blogs, videos, guides) that supports sales-assisted and sales-led deal cycles
    • Experience working with solutions architects and product managers to produce technical guides and tutorials

You'll have an edge if you have:

    • Proficiency in dbt, or other tools in the modern data stack
    • Experience developing narratives for developer personas
    • An understanding of traditional enterprise ETL tooling like Informatica, Boomi, or Talend
    • Experience working with internal brand designers or managing external contractors to bring your content to life
    • Compensation & Benefits
    • Salary: $140k-170k
    • Equity Stake
    • Benefits: Unlimited vacation, 401k w/ 3% guaranteed contribution, excellent healthcare, and paid parental leave
    • What to expect in the hiring process:
    • An introductory call with a Talent Acquisition Partner
    • A video call with the Senior Manager, Marketing Operations
    • Panel interviews with members of our Marketing and Marketing Operations teams
    • A final values interview with a member of our leadership team
Who we are
At dbt Labs, we have developed strong opinions on how companies should practice analytics.

Specifically, we believe that:
- Code, not graphical user interfaces, is the best abstraction to express complex analytic logic
- Data analysts should adopt similar practices and tools to software developers
- Critical analytics infrastructure should be controlled by its users as open source software
- Analytic code itself?-?not just analytics tools?-?will increasingly be open source

It turns out that a lot of other people believe this too! Today, there are 9,000 companies using dbt every week, 30,000 practitioners in the dbt Community Slack, and 1,800 companies paying for dbt Cloud. Our customers include JetBlue, Hubspot, Vodafone New Zealand, and Dunelm. dbt is synonymous with the practice of analytics engineering, defining an entire industry. We're backed by top investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia Capital, and Altimeter. We recently raised our series D: read the announcement here!
