Remote job description

About us

We're an early stage, well-funded startup team with a proven track record of shipping open source software with global adoption. We put a premium on respectful, clear, and complete communication, and we expect each other to be creative, curious, effective, and empathetic.

We believe deeply that the right tools and abstractions enable not just technological transformation, but also organizational transformation. We strive to put the user and their hard work at the center of our decision making. In practice, that means we are looking for engineers who want to write clean APIs and helpful error messages, and who always try to understand user needs when designing a new system.

All of our open source work is done publicly. You can gain context about how we collaborate as a team and the problems we work on by exploring GitHub and looking at our code reviews.

About the role

This is a full-time, competitively paid position with benefits. We are a distributed team with offices in San Francisco and Minneapolis. We have team members all over the U.S. and we are hiring fully remote candidates in the U.S. Every employee is provided a remote work stipend to cover the cost of home office equipment and anything else that makes your remote work location comfortable, productive, or successful. And if you'd rather not work from home, we'll cover the cost of a coworking or office space if you're fully remote.

Responsibilities:

  • Align with the Founder and leadership team on company vision and go to market strategy. Be a trusted resource with a vital role in helping shape the overall GTM cadence and agenda.
  • Build a high-performing marketing organization to enable the company's growth and success; take ownership of key growth OKRs.
  • Position Elementl as the category leader and innovator in the workflow / data orchestration categories, and develop a content engine to support it.
  • Understand the marketplace and universe of developers, their needs and pain points, and demonstrate instincts for what solutions will match and fit those pain points. Play a key role in helping define product and packaging to serve those customers.
  • Alongside Developer Relations, elevate and promote Elementl's developer community and ecosystem.
  • Establish a team culture that is grounded in metrics with an analytics approach to program execution, tracking and reporting. Promote a high-velocity rigor, test and fail-fast mentality that is rooted in driving exceptional results.
  • Take a progressive and aggressive approach to all things marketing. Strategically build marketing to drive the narrative, positioning, pricing, packaging and competitive differentiation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to help advance the company vision and drive avenues for new product, geo, and operational expansion opportunities.
  • Embody and lead by example the Elementl core values and leadership fundamentals.

Must-have Qualifications

If you don't think you meet all of the criteria below but still are interested in the job, please apply. Nobody checks every box, and we're looking for someone excited to join the team.

  • 6-8+ years of marketing experience within successful, high-growth software companies with a particular functional emphasis on product marketing, messaging, and positioning
  • Has proven success doing bottoms-up community advocacy marketing with personas that do not necessarily respond to traditional marketing.
  • Brings solid understanding of the developer community. Knows how to develop compelling content and leverage channels to engage this audience.
  • Understands community driven marketing and the ways to continue to nurture and stay authentic to a loyal existing customer base
  • Leader with strength in positioning and messaging to connect to the developer audience by refining and scaling the story and driving and nurturing content.
  • Able to execute growth campaigns in a PLG model (i.e., getting adoption of free product to end-user and promoting content/messaging that removes potential friction/blockers).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and experience presenting to press, analysts, partners, etc.
  • A strong partner to sales and product teams with experience collaborating on GTM
  • Self-starter, unafraid to roll-up sleeves, get it done and "lead from the front."

Nice-to-have Qualifications

Experience scaling revenues from $1M+ to $10M+ in a startup, either in #1 seat, or as a functional leader (#2)

You belong here

We are committed to building an inclusive team and an open source community where no one feels out of place. We know that teams with diverse backgrounds state their assumptions more explicitly, think more rigorously, and build better software. Plus it's more fun and interesting to work with a wide variety of perspectives.

You should apply to work at Elementl if you want to work in, and help to build and strengthen, a high-performing software development environment where people of all backgrounds are welcome.
