The challenge

Lever is looking for an experienced leader who can turn content marketing into a growth engine. The ideal candidate has significant knowledge and practice building and leading full-stack content marketing functions that cover the end-to-end process of strategy, planning, development, distribution, and measurement.

The opportunity

Lever is seeking an impactful storyteller and data-driven content fanatic passionate about disruptive Talent Acquisition technologies.

As the Director of Content Strategy, you'll own the development and execution of Lever's content marketing strategy and the corresponding budgets and key performance indicators. You will be an expert in all content media types, including blogs, white papers, case studies, social media, emails, webinars, videos, and podcasts.

Above all, you'll have a keen understanding and appreciation for a user-centric content approach that attracts, captivates, and converts both online and offline customers, including new acquisition and retention efforts.

The Director of Content Strategy will report to the SVP of Marketing and work cross-functionally with GTM leaders and Lever's executive team.

The team

Lever's Marketing team is a tight-knit team with diverse backgrounds--our mission is to build a strong brand and sustainable demand for Lever by showcasing a product and experience our prospects and customers can't live without in order to change the industry's mindset around hiring.

The skill set

  • 7-10 years experience and a demonstrated track record of success in content and marketing communications, preferably with a B2B organization
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field or equivalent experience is required, an advanced degree is preferred
  • Demonstrated skill and comfort in proactively building relationships with top tier technology, industry, analysts, thought leaders, media/reporters, and editors.
  • Firm understanding of user experience strong search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) skills are preferred
  • SaaS, software, high tech with proven experience strongly desired
  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing a comprehensive, strategic communication, media relations program, social engagement to advance Lever's mission and goals
  • Creative and thoughtful on how an integrated brand approach can positively impact the lifecycle and consistency of communications
  • Experience in building, mentoring, and coaching a team of communications professionals
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers. Self-reliant, good problem solver, and results-oriented and culture-driven
  • Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs
  • Excellent and persuasive communicator
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management and Lever's Executive leadership and the broader company

Within 1 month, you'll

  • Complete Ramp Camp, our comprehensive onboarding program designed to get you up to speed on all aspects of the business with a cross-functional cohort of new Leveroos. You'll learn about our business, product, vision, and team and understand how your role fits into Lever's broader organization
  • Meet with key stakeholders from Marketing, Sales, Customer Experience, People (HR), Legal, and other teams to better understand our industry, competitors, business, OKRs, and differentiators and how your work fits in
  • Gain a complete understanding of the process (current content calendar) and identify opportunities to scale to achieve business objectives

Within 3 months, you'll

  • Increase brand awareness: Working closely with Lever's design and web resources (internal and external) to have a full understanding of our brand and how you can expand our guidelines and fully exponentiate Lever's brand awareness with a cross-section of digital, content (or other tactics), to establish resonance with our TAM
  • Work closely with writers, editors, and graphic designers to develop content with a channel-specific and customer-centric approach
  • Take a lead role on many copywriting projects and guide freelance writers
  • Own the editorial calendar: You and your team will develop and coordinate meaningful thought leadership and top-of-funnel content (blogs, vlogs, eBooks, social content, etc.) that will continue to influence our target personas to drive awareness and conversion

Within 6 months, you'll

  • Develop a content strategy based on our business objectives and a customer's or end user's needs working with demand generation, field/events, partner marketing, sales, customers success, and general marketing teams
  • Develop our content roadmap, including the development of themes/topics, alignment with integrated marketing initiatives, content creation, curation, and distribution and syndication to accelerate thought leadership and awareness, elevate campaign impact, acquire new customers and drive customer success
  • Build on Lever's story on the value of TA solutions aligned with our mission and vision to communicate our ability and core differentiator to create enterprise value and orchestrate business performance
  • Lead all aspects of content planning and development for our solutions, target persona (HR Recruiter, Director+, Chief Talent Acquisition, CEO) to drive awareness, demand generation, retention, renewal/expansion, and sales enablement goals
  • Build a hub-and-spoke content strategy to accelerate the alignment and impact of each piece of content
  • Drive Lever's SEO Strategy to grow this channel, developing successful SEO strategies and inbound marketing. We want to maintain this strength in a competitive market while expanding broader brand awareness into our SEO strategy.
  • Collaborate with Head of Demand Gen on campaign development and execution to drive new customer acquisition
  • Own the content narrative and sequencing of email programs leveraging input from the team and data
  • Develop content marketing campaigns that drive engagement (clicks), leads (form submissions), demo requests, and most importantly, new customer acquisition and revenue growth
  • Prioritize, organize, and execute monthly content marketing campaigns and projects to build the brand and increase thought leadership and velocity of sales-accepted pipeline dollars
  • Own the content budget, KPIs, and full-funnel report suite (dashboards/reports)
  • Establish success metrics, supervise KPIs, and apply relevant customer insights to help define effective and innovative marketing campaigns, making recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Test, measure, and optimize content marketing campaigns using various A/B and multivariate testing techniques
  • Be a data fanatic when measuring content marketing attribution, efforts, funnel, and pipeline acceleration

Within 12 months, you'll

  • Own strategic planning for the Content Team
  • Be the foremost authority on our buyers, and contribute to strategic product direction decisions at the leadership level.
  • Be responsible for process analysis, optimization, improvement, and measurement
  • Onboard new team members and agencies
  • Develop enablement plans, lead training, and deliver documentation to ensure Content Marketers are fully enabled
  • Support the evaluation of new marketing automation tools for the year
  • Architect upcoming fiscal year strategy and goals for the forthcoming planning sessions for the next fiscal year
  • Work closely with CMO, Dir of Strategic Comms, and VP of Product Marketing to craft a compelling product and brand narrative
