Remote job description

THE ROLE
As a senior-level Eventbrite public policy and government affairs advocate, you'll work with our Head of Public Policy and Government Affairs to stay immersed and ahead of pertinent legislative, regulatory, political, and social issues impacting our business or user community. Your work will include a combination of global, federal, state, and local-level government affairs opportunities as well as a ground floor opportunity to help build Eventbrite's small business creator mobilization program.

THE CHALLENGE
In the last decade, Eventbrite has grown from a small US company to a complex global business and leader in ticketing. Accompanying this exciting growth is any number of complex regulations and laws impacting, among others, commercial business dealings, payment services, privacy, and ticketing that challenge our day to day operations. Rather than simply react, we want to get out in front, advocate for Eventbrite's business objectives and our community of users, and form relationships that will propel our mission.

THE TEAM
Eventbrite's mission is to bring the world together through live experiences. Eventbrite's Impact organization works with creators, nonprofit partners, and government officials to advance social progress and public policies that enable this mission to flourish. We create and execute initiatives and partnerships that facilitate positive change for society, creators, and our employees, ranging from fostering social connection to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. We also advocate for technology and business laws and regulations that are crucial to the success of the creators and customers we serve.

YOU WILL

    • Help execute Eventbrite's global policy strategy considering its business, user community and purpose-driven social objectives
    • Work closely with the Communications team to ensure a cohesive media strategy to support that global policy strategy
    • Identify and form recommendations surrounding global, federal, state, and local-level policy issues affecting Eventbrite purpose-driven and business priorities
    • Proactively analyze proposed applicable legislation and regulations
    • Concisely draft and articulate Eventbrite positions in briefing papers, consultation responses, or internal and external meetings
    • Work cross-functionally with Content Policy to build and drive internal content standards and moderation policies and educate internally on platform liability interpretation
    • Create innovative outreach programs with policymakers, thought leadership, and diversity organizations
    • Stay on top of the policy landscape across Silicon Valley and similar platform-based businesses
    • Build coalitions with other organizations to advance Eventbrite's purpose-driven and technology policy goals
    • Forge strong cross-functional relationships with teams throughout the Organization such as Communications, Marketing, Investor Relations, Product, Security, Finance, Tax and Strategy

THE SKILLSET

    • Minimum of 5-10 years of related government or government affairs advocacy experience
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to inform an audience accurately and completely, while being concise and digestible for those that don't eat this stuff for breakfast like us policy nerds
    • Critical thinking and problem solving skills necessary to analyze regulatory requirements, product limitations, and the effectiveness of proposed resolutions
    • Collaborative team player with an ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
    • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple fast-moving, and high-priority projects simultaneously
    • Flexibility and adaptability in the workplace, with openness to addressing needs that range from complex to administrative
    • Relentless attention to detail
    • Demonstrated passion for the work, our vision, and excitement to jump in
