This role requires a critical thinker and strong communicator who can quickly digest and execute tactical and strategic objectives with existing and emerging policy stakeholders. This role requires developing in-depth knowledge of key policymakers, financial institutions, and trade and consumer groups and maintaining relationships that are critical to advancing Plaid's policy and business priorities. This person will be responsible for relating policy back to Plaid's business to influence strategic decisions across a variety of teams to drive desirable policy and company outcomes.

Additionally, this person should also have an aptitude for navigating complex political dynamics and be confident representing Plaid with external partners. It requires someone who is technically inclined, who can translate "tech talk" and "business concepts" into "policy wonk", and vice versa This person should be able to identify new policy or industry relationships or policymaking that could advance Plaid's business.

What Excites Us:

  • 5+ years of experience in policy, technology and financial services
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage projects from inception through execution
  • Strong organizational skills - ability to successfully manage, prioritize, and coordinate multiple projects/deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences
  • Strong understanding and passion for new technology with particular interest in the evolution of the associated policy and regulatory spaces
  • Demonstrated experience managing stakeholder expectations through clearly defined project objectives and focused execution against plans
  • Creative problem solver who is interested in understanding different points of view and new ways of approaching problems
  • Ambitious goal setter who spots opportunities and creative paths to overcome obstacles
  • Strong interpersonal skills that contribute to a positive and productive working environment
  • Self-motivated and possesses the ability to work independently as well as with a team

What Excites You:

  • Writing regulatory comment letters, letters to 'the hill', policy memos, reports, fact sheets and other materials for a range of audiences
  • Representing Plaid at meetings with regulators, legislators, and subject area experts, as well as with allies and partners
  • Speak publicly on behalf of Plaid at conferences, webinars, roundtables, etc.
  • Cross-functional coordination with Comms, Growth, Legal and Product to drive business outcomes through policy and help policy inform business strategy
  • Create Policy's weekly newsletter providing updates to the entire company on emerging trends and work in the space
