Plaid's Legal Team works at the intersection of technology, law and financial services. Our work helps Plaid build delightful and innovative products, make better decisions, understand and manage risks, and creatively navigate challenges, both external and internal.

We're looking for a Patent Paralegal to join our Legal Team! In this role, you'll work closely with our IP counsel and vibrant community of innovators to help build and run Plaid's Innovation Program. You'll operate not only as a patent paralegal, but also as a trusted partner for our IP counsel and business and have the opportunity to shape our innovation culture. The ideal candidate will be a highly collaborative, inquisitive, and solutions-oriented paralegal with a strong baseline of patent paralegal experience along with experience within a corporate IP department. Experience with patent data and business reporting and the administration of IP awards is helpful, but not required, for you to be successful in this role.

What Excites You:

  • The opportunity to shape and build, in close collaboration with our IP counsel and business partners, an IP program that includes patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and open source.
  • Helping to develop and administer outreach, education, and awards programs for a vibrant community of inventors across the company.
  • Working with our partners in the business to design data and reporting products that reflect their IP accomplishments.
  • Management of our team of outside counsel partners, which includes ensuring compliance with guidelines and periodic reviews.
  • Design, implementation, and administration of our IP management system, including patent matter management and training for our innovator community and outside counsel.

What Excites Us:

  • You have a paralegal certificate from an ABA certified program with 8+ years of relevant experience at a top law firm, in-house legal team, and/or government agency, with a focus on patent prosecution.
  • You have a deep understanding of in-house patent prosecution management, both domestic and foreign.
  • You have in-house experience working with teams of outside counsel and an innovator community.
  • You have experience with industry standard IP management software, such as MaxVal Symphony, Anaqua, Foundation IP, or Lecorpio.
  • You're a creative thinker who loves seeing around corners and connecting dots.
  • You're solutions-oriented, are biased towards action and impact, and see problems as opportunities and take the initiative to make changes and improvements.
  • You're highly collaborative and are dedicated to developing strong relationships with key business partners.
  • You're humble with low-ego, have a strong desire to grow and learn, and have a deep commitment to your teammates.
