We are looking for a Licensing and Compliance Manager to join our team.

ABOUT THE JOB

  • Manage Instacart's licensing portfolio and tracker for new filings and renewals (e.g., business and alcohol licenses, business tax receipts, product and software licensing, and other regulatory permits).
  • Ensure state and local business license filings, applications, renewals, and supporting documentation are accurately and timely submitted in accordance with state, local, and other jurisdictional regulations.
  • Identify, research and document state and local business licensing requirements.
  • Create standard operating procedures for licensing and permitting program.
  • Work with Next Gen Ops and Workplace to ensure licenses are posted at physical locations.
  • Work with the Regulatory Compliance Manager to identify potential permitting compliance gaps and develop and execute remediation plans to close gaps and mitigate exposure.
  • Coordinate closely with the Corporate Legal Team, Alcohol Regulatory Compliance, Tax, external third-party vendors, and other regulatory agencies on licensing and permitting matters and oversee progress to assure deadlines, standards, and targets are met.
  • Develop, track, and report on monthly, quarterly, and year-over-year metrics to provide visibility on the licensing and permitting compliance footprint for the company.
  • Identify opportunities and guide improvements in the licensing and permitting application and management process.
  • Coordinate the successful onboarding of third party vendors/suppliers, consultants, and other service providers to support the Regulatory Compliance Team's project management needs for Licensing, Caper, Next Gen (from the initial engagement with the vendor/supplier to routing NDAs, MSAs, invoices to appropriate parties for review, approval, and signature).
  • Provide corporate governance support to the Corporate Legal Team as needed (e.g., help facilitate on-time annual report filings and updates to corporate management platforms).
  • Handle other licensing and regulatory compliance tasks and cross-functional projects to support company growth and business expansion initiatives.

ABOUT YOU

You're proactive, collaborative, and passionate about technology and e-commerce, and ready to roll up your sleeves and dig into complex regulatory permitting and licensing requirements to develop pragmatic compliance solutions.

  • Bachelors degree required
  • 5+ years of experience as a licensing professional
  • Deep understanding of licensing within highly regulated industries, specific experience in business licensing, alcohol and retail food permitting, and corporate governance is a plus
  • Must be efficient, accurate, deadline-driven, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to prioritize and multitask under constant time constraints
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills using data to drive decisions in a fast pace business environment
  • Strong technical acumen, including the ability to understand the permitting/licensing landscape, identify compliance opportunities, and overcome technical obstacles
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong executive presence and the ability to influence teams working towards a goal
  • Experience of working in Product based or analytics-based orgs / team will be an advantage
  • Experience in writing SQL queries and mining databases will be an advantage
  • Tax/Accounting background is a plus
  • Lean, Six Sigma certified, and a good understanding of value-stream mapping will be an advantage
