IP Paralegal

Play a critical role tending and growing Discord's Intellectual Property (IP) portfolio. As an IP Paralegal, you'll be a key member of our growing Legal team. Reporting to our Senior Director of Litigation & IP, you'll develop and help manage the day-to-day of Discord's invention harvesting and patent application program. You'll also help maintain Discord's trademark and copyright portfolios, as well as pinch-hit on data gathering for litigation and regulatory matters from time to time.

What you'll be doing

• Develop and facilitate the invention disclosure process
• Liaise between outside counsel and business to translate requests and gather data
• Maintain dockets and track deadlines
• Assist with drafting and submitting routine updates
• Track and pay fees
• Coordinate rewards and recognition for inventors

What you should have

• A cover letter (This is mandatory!)
• 4+ years of IP paralegal experience, gained through either a law firm serving technology companies or in-house work
• Has excelled in roles emphasizing project management, prioritizing, scaling, and consistently achieving results
• Experience working with cross-functional teams including engineers, marketing, lawyers, and analysts
• Knowledge of IP management systems
• Familiarity with USPTO procedures
• Attitude of open-mindedness, collaboration, flexibility, and always questioning your assumptions
• Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging

Bonus Points

• You are familiar with Discord and Google Workspace
• Experience with foreign IP filing basics (e.g. PCT, EPO, EUIPO, etc.)
• Experience at consumer-facing technology platforms
